JOB DETAILS:
Key Roles and responsibilities
• Transport finished goods and raw materials (cement) over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centres
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance
• Meet delivery schedules
• Document and log work/rest periods and kilometres spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts
• Comply with the transport and driving rules and as well as with all other Company policies and procedures for both Client Cement and True North Consult
• Maneuver trucks into loading or offloading positions
• Collect and verify delivery instructions
• Report defects, accidents or violations
• Trip Advances

Key qualifications and competencies required:
Professional Qualification:
• At least Ordinary Level Certificate or its equivalent and driving licence valid in Uganda and within the region

Professional experience
• Proven driving experience of a minimum of 2 years on trucks of a payload capacity of >15 metric tonne

Skills and other competencies
• Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather
• conditions etc).
• Basic mechanical skills
• Ability communicate in English orally and in writing
• Team Player
• Proven work experience as a truck driver
• Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
• Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
• Knowledge of Renault Automatic trucks
• No recent moving or driving violations
