JOB DETAILS:
Background
Impact and Innovations Development Centre (IIDC) is a not-for-profit regional Technical Assistance (TA) and Learning partner organization that works with development agencies in the public and private sectors to promote impactful and innovative programming. IIDC builds capacities and facilitates learning to enhance the efficacy of development programming in Africa to achieve sustainable and equitable development outcomes for all.
IIDC seeks applications and CV submissions from experienced and competent individuals to join its team on an on-call basis to provide transport facilitation/driver services.

Purpose of the Role
To provide effective vehicle maintenance and ensure safe driving for IID staff and stakeholders to various destinations within Uganda.

Accountability
• Reports to: Executive Director
• Supervised by: Administrator

Specific Roles & Responsibilities
• Maintain the vehicle in roadworthy condition, fuel as necessary, and report major mechanical faults requiring management action.
• Schedule regular car service appointments and report any issues.
• Transport staff and authorized persons to required destinations and deliver mail or goods per organizational requirements.
• Maintain and update trip movement records (e.g., logbooks, fuel cards) and account for funds spent on driving operations in compliance with accounting procedures.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and the professional image of IIDC, adhering to organizational and Uganda road safety guidelines.
• Monitor and report on vehicle licenses and permits to ensure compliance with traffic laws.
• Observe Uganda road safety and traffic regulations and advise passengers on road safety measures.
• Undertake other related duties necessary for the job.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
• Minimum of a UCE certificate.
• Valid driving permit for a 7-seater passenger vehicle class or higher.
• Training in Defensive Driving and/or Fleet Management.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics (advantageous).
• At least 5 years of continuous driving experience with a 7-seater passenger vehicle, preferably with a reputable company.
• Experience working with a reputable NGO is a significant advantage.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; a team player.
• Ability to multitask.
• Smart, clean, presentable, and projecting a positive organizational image.
• Reliable and punctual.
