PAU/EHS/061/602: ENVIRONMENT OFFICER- Engineering
Job Summary
The role is responsible for supporting the integration of appropriate engineering and
technological solutions to mitigate environmental impacts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
a) Advise on policies, regulations, standards, strategies, guidelines and plans regarding
technology required to meet the challenges of environment degradation and/or
pollution, including cross-cutting issues such as climate change in oil and gas,
energy, and mineral development projects.
b) Participate in a review of technical reports to ensure that the proposed technology
meets the challenges of environmental degradation and/or pollution.
c) Advise on pollution control and waste management strategies and plans for the Oil
and Gas Sector.
d) Inspect and monitor field operations to ensure compliance with environmental
regulatory requirements, standards, and guidelines.
e) Create awareness/ promotion of technology required to meet the challenges of
environment degradation and/or pollution in the Sector.
f) Participate in the preparation, implementation and/or review of Environment
Assessments and Risk Assessments.
g) Undertake periodic site Audits and follow-up on identified environmental issues.
h) Participate in inspection of facilities, machinery, and equipment to facilitate relevant
certification and compliance with environmental regulatory requirements, including,
standards and guidelines.
i) Implement the roles of the PAU as the Competent National Authority for the
implementation of the National Oil Spill Contingency Plan (NOSCP).
j) Any other duties as shall be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Basic Qualifications
An Honors Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Technology
or any related engineering disciplines from an internationally recognized institution.
Experience
Three (3) years of relevant working experience.
Added advantage
Working experience in the Oil & Gas sector
