Job Advertisement: Entomology Field Officer (1 Position Only)
The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire a suitable candidate for the position of Entomology Field Officer for the PRISM study to be based at Tororo.
The Successful candidate will be reporting to the Clinical Officer.

Job description:
• The following duties outlined may be subject to change in the course of the study:
• Administering informed consent form to head of household.
• Deployment of CDC light traps in the evening and removing of traps in the morning from participants household.
• Data entry on case record forms and tablet computers for all the data collected from the field.
• Sorting and counting of the mosquito samples collected
• Morphologically identify all female anopheles mosquito samples collected up to species level.
• Assess the female anopheles mosquito abdominal status to determine if blood fed/nonblood fed, gravid /semi gravid/non-gravid
• Dissection of all non-blood fed female anopheles mosquitoes to determine parity
• Preparation of dry blood spot from the abdomen of fed female anopheles mosquitoes on filter paper
• Participate in identification and mapping of mosquito larval breeding habitats in the study area.
• Participate in the IDRC insectary and other insecticide resistance related activities.
• Assist with organization and filing of study forms, in collaboration with the coordinators.
• Ensure adequate supplies are available for the entomology surveys.
• Ensure accurate labeling, packaging and timely transport of all laboratory specimens from the field to MOLAB. Qualifications and other desirables for the job:
• A diploma in Medical Entomology & Parasitology from a recognized institution.
• Registered with Allied Health Professions council
• Ability to ride a motor cycle
• Must possess a valid riding permit
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal
• Reputable computer skills in Ms packages
