Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Environmental Specialist/Officer specializing in Water Irrigation Projects to join our team. As the Environmental Specialist/Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring environmental compliance, implementing sustainability measures, and mitigating environmental risks throughout the project lifecycle. Your expertise in environmental science and occupational health will contribute to the successful and environmentally responsible execution of our water irrigation projects.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement environmental management plans for water irrigation projects, ensuring compliance with applicable environmental regulations and standards.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and feasibility studies to identify potential environmental risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Monitor and assess project activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits, licenses, and regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections to assess environmental compliance, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with project teams, engineers, and architects to integrate environmental considerations into project design and planning processes.
• Develop and deliver environmental training programs to project personnel to promote environmental awareness and best practices.
• Manage environmental monitoring programs, including air quality, water quality, noise, and soil testing, and analyze and interpret data to assess environmental impacts.
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, government agencies, and local communities to address environmental concerns and ensure effective communication.
• Prepare and submit environmental reports and permit applications as required by regulatory authorities.
• Stay updated with current environmental laws, regulations, and industry best practices, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in environmental management or related roles.
• Must have completed at least one similar water irrigation project (500-2000 hectares).

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of environmental science, regulations, and best practices.
• Familiarity with water irrigation systems and their potential environmental impacts.
• Understanding of occupational health and safety principles and their application to construction projects.
• Proficiency in conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and developing environmental management plans.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate environmental risks.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with project teams, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring techniques and proficiency in interpreting environmental data.
• Ability to analyze complex environmental issues and provide practical and innovative solutions.
• Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high environmental standards.
