JOB DETAILS:

Job Purpose
Supporting implementation of policies and plans on epidemic and disaster preparedness and control by carrying out investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the surveillance, detection, and prevention of diseases and injuries

Key Outputs
• Epidemiologic Investigations conducted by Investigating and responding to disease epidemics and disasters.
• Epidemiologic services provided.
• Participation in surveillance activities.
• Epidemiologic findings disseminated.
• Participation in Administrative and Program Projects and Activities.

Key Functions
• Participating in epidemiologic studies and urgent outbreak investigations.
• Performs statistical analyses of investigations.
• Participating in the design, management, and use of surveillance systems.
• Overseeing data collection, entry, analysis and interpretation of epidemic prone diseases.
• Participating in the design of instruments for the collection of surveillance information and data.
• Training district health workers on epidemic preparedness, control and surveillance
• Implementing new or revising existing surveillance systems.
• Participating in the development and dissemination of data and epidemiologic findings
• Preparing periodic monitoring and performance reports.

Qualifications
• MBChB or BVM or a Degree in Epidemiology or any other related field from a recognized University/Institution.
• Master’s degree with a focus in epidemiology or any other related field will be an added advantage.
• Three (3) years relevant working experience in epidemiology in a public health organization at national level or multinational Organization.

• Ability to perform Epidemiologic Assessment and Analysis.
• Ability to develop and support leadership and Systems Thinking
• Use Effective Communication Strategies.
• Planning and organization skills
