The USAID/Uganda Feed the Future Uganda Inclusive Agricultural Markets Activity (FtF IAM) is a five-year (20192024), $27 million dollar USAID-funded agriculture program FtFIAM works with agro-industry/agribusiness firms, Government of Uganda (GoU) institutions and agencies, and market actor organizations to improve efficiencies in crossmarket functions. such as input supply and agribusiness services, value addition and business support services, to increase incomes and improve livelihoods through agricultureled inclusive economic growth. The Activity contributes to the Global Food Security Strategy (GFSS) Uganda Country Plan goal of reducing hunger, malnutrition, and poverty, as well as the USAID/Uganda Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) 2016-2021 five-year goal of strengthening Uganda's systems to accelerate inclusive education, health, and economic outcomes. The Activity works throughout the FtF Uganda Zone of Influence (ZOI), which covers 38 districts spread across four regions of Uganda.

In Year 3 (2022), FIF IAM plans to develop strategic partnerships with corporate agri-business firms working in agricultural sectors such as high-value export, agroprocessing, input manufacturing, and logistics. These partners will have networks of agri-SMEs business partners that support their supply chains and distribution channels. By partnering with these firms, FtF IAM seeks to build the capacity of Agri-SMEs while also improving the competitiveness and strengthening inclusive business models of the corporate investment partners.
Background: DAI seeks a Technical Advisor who will be responsible mapping out and developing relationships with strategic corporate partners in sectors such as agro-input supply and animal health services, cereals, dairy and livestock products, and horticulture. The advisory will support FtF IAM to co-design agri-SME technical assistance programs in collaboration with the corporate investment partners such that they buy-into and co-invest in these SME capacity building interventions. The advisor will support corporate partners to develop inclusive business models that engage agri-SMEs more effectively while transferring knowledge and skills to agri-SMEs that are mutually beneficial to the SMEs and corporate partners. The position is a senior management role and reports to the Deputy Chief of Party
Location of assignment: Kampala with required to travel to FtF IAM's partners business locations in their areas of operation, which include Northern, Eastern, Southwestern and Karamoja regions of Uganda
Period of Performance: July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023
