IGREC is an independent center for research and policy evaluation based in Uganda. We use rigorous research and evaluation techniques to discover, promote and test effective solutions to dynamic world problems as well as creating a global linkage between researchers and decision-makers to design, evaluate, and define possible and cost effective solutions to existing development problems.

Main purpose of the Job
The Field manager will work with the Research manager to develop study designs, manage data collection and analysis and prepare reports of findings. Provide leadership, mentoring and management to the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate and execute assigned research projects
• Work with management to prepare project plan, budget and schedules.
• Assist the Research/Project Managers in developing annual work plans and preparing periodic reports.
• Lead research team to complete projects within allotted timelines and budgets.
• Collating and scheduling project activity funds for different activities.
• Participate in the development of research policies and procedures
• Support the Research/Project managers in developing and designing activity materials i.e Training manuals. Protocols, etc.
• Assist in employee recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
• Address project issues and escalate complex issues to management.
• Perform day-to-day management of project team and address team issues promptly.
• Conduct team meetings to discuss about project status and issues.
• Assist in the preparation of project documentation and research reports for management review.
• Maintain a project equipment log the quality and quantity of equipment is maintained.
• Standing in for the Research/Project Manager in their absence both in Kampala office and in the field.
• Act as primary contact for any field communications.
• Monitor and report project progress, status and issues regularly to management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and experience

• Bachelors in Business Administration, Economics, research, or a related field.
• PGD in Monitoring & Evaluation, Project Management or related field is of added advantage.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods
• The candidate should also have experience managing research projects from start to finish.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Location
This position is based in Kampala head office and field when project is running.

Start date
There is preference for candidates that can start immediately.

Work Authorization
IGREC will not sponsor employment visa for non-Ugandans for this position; we will prioritize candidates who do not require work permit to work in Uganda.

Compensation

Compensation and benefits are commensurate with the qualifications and experience IGREC is hiring for and competitive within Uganda. Other benefits IGREC staff will include health insurance, sick leave and more.
