Job Scope:
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the Finance Analyst will be responsible for providing financial analysis, reporting, and decision support to the finance department and other business units within PAUL. The role involves analysing financial data, preparing reports, forecasting financial performance, and supporting strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
Financial Analysis:
• Analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to identify trends, variances, and key
• Conduct profitability analysis for different lines of business, products, and distribution channels to assess financial performance and identify areas
• Perform financial modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
Management Reporting:
• Prepare and distribute regular management reports, dashboards, and financial presentations to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Provide insights and commentary on financial performance, highlighting key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
• Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Assist in the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans for the insurance company.
• Work closely with business units to understand their financial requirements and assumptions for budgeting and forecasting purposes.
• Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, investigate variances, and provide explanations and recommendations.
Financial Planning and Analysis
• Support strategic decision-making by conducting financial analysis and providing insights into business performance and trends.
• Develop financial models and business cases to assess the financial feasibility and potential impact of proposed projects or initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards relevant to the insurance industry, such as IFRS 17, Solvency II,and local regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings, financial statements, and other regulatory reports as required.
Ad-hoc Analysis and Projects:
• Undertake ad-hoc analysis, special projects, and assignments as requested by senior management or other stakeholders.
• Provide support to cross-functional teams on financial matters, including pricing, underwriting, claims,
and risk management.
Core Competences Required:
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• СРА or ACCA credentials
• Prior experience in financial analysis, or related roles in the insurance industry is preferred
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and statistical techniques.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial software applications.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
