JOB DETAILS:
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) is a statutory body, established in 1996 by the Capital Markets Authority Act (Cap 84) as amended, to promote, develop and regulate the capital markets industry. CMA is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development.
The CMA is mandated by law to:
• Approve prospectus and other offering documents under which securities are offered to the public,
• Develop the capital markets through removal of impediments and the creation of incentives for longer term investments in productive enterprises.
• Create, maintain and regulate a market in which securities can be issued and traded in an orderly, fair and efficient manner.
• Cooperate with, any foreign regulatory authority in the performance of its duties;
• Implement regional and international standards and best practice in securities markets, securities regulation and supervision Protect investors; and
• Operate an investor compensation fund.
The work of the CMA is also governed by the Securities Central Depositories Act, 2009 and the Collective Investment Schemed Act, 2003. To deliver on its mandate efficiently and effectively, CMA is seeking to hire a qualified and self-motivated individual to fill the position of FINANCE OFFICER as follows;
Job Title: Finance Officer
Reports To: Finance Manager
Job Purpose: Prepare, maintain & report on financial activities in accordance with CMA financial policies, regulations and generally accepted accounting standards..
Responsibilities /Key Deliverables
• Participate in the preparation of final accounts in accordance with CMA policies, regulations and international financial reporting standards;
• Participate in preparation, monitoring and control of CMA's annual budget;
• Coordinate external and internal audits, ensure that adequate preparation is done and all documentation required is availed in time; and prepare responses to audit queries for management approval;
• Prepare quarterly financial reports for submission to Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development;
• Maintain and continuously update the fixed assets and investment register.
• Prepare payments; write payment vouchers, cheques and post transactions in the banking system;
• Prepare the monthly payroll and accompanying schedules and remit statutory deductions by the due date in compliance with relevant regulations and laws;
• Reconcile revenue account and take appropriate action.
• Post transactions in the accounting system and prepare monthly bank reconciliation statements;
• Prepare invoices for broker/dealer remittances and ensure that all outstanding amounts are collected by the dales
• Manage office petty cash;

Person Specification.
• Education & Training Minimum of level 2 attained in the previous 2 years of a internationally recognized professional Accounting body e.g. ICPAU, ICPAK, ACCA, CIMA etc is required.
• Any Bachelor's degree from a reputable university is an added advantage.
• Must have At least 3 years' working experience gained from a reputable private or public sector organization, or audit firm;
• Experience in preparing final accounts is desirable Working knowledge of the Tally accounting software is preferred;
• Budget preparation and monitoring;
• Effective report writing skills;
• Leadership potential

• Ability to work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
