Emata dares farmers to dream big. We provide affordable and digital financial products to farmers. The company was started in 2020 and is the first digital lender for farmers in Uganda. Emata loans are up to 5x more affordable than current alternatives and empower farmers to invest in their farms and prosper. We achieve this by leveraging cutting-edge developments in technology, data science, and alternative credit scoring.

What you would do
You will join the team as a full-time Financial Controller. As such, you are responsible for our financial accounting, repayment reconciliations, and reporting to our funders and investors. Concretely, your responsibilities include:
1. Financial accounting, management reporting, and audits
2. Share repayment schedules, reconcile incoming repayments, and resolve non-repayment issues together with our team and partners
3. Report to funding partners and investors
4. Support the closing of investments and funding deals
5. Contribute to fact-based decision making on management level
6. You will work closely with our brilliant CFO/COO. The position is full-time and located in our beautiful office in Bugolobi, Kampala.

What we are looking for
We are looking for a down-to-earth and meticulous person with a passion for numbers. In a perfect world you bring the following:
1. 3-5 years of experience in accounting or controlling with banks or financial institutions
2. Good understanding of credit
3. Meticulous work attitude and high attention to detail
4. Hands-on mentality
5. Desire to work in a fast-paced tech startup 
6. Advanced excel skills
7. Experience with Quickbooks is an advantage
