JOB DETAILS:

Job Purpose
We are currently seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Flagman/Flagwoman to join our team. The Flagman/Flagwoman will play a crucial role in directing traffic and ensuring the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians in construction or roadwork areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for following established signals, communicating effectively with drivers, and maintaining a high level of awareness to prevent accidents

Activities
Traffic Control:
• Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction sites or roadwork areas using standard hand signals or traffic control devices.
• Ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic in accordance with established guidelines.
• Communication:
• Effectively communicate with drivers, construction workers, and other team members to coordinate traffic movement.
• Follow standardized signals and procedures for directing traffic.

Safety Compliance:
• Enforce safety regulations and best practices to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of workers and the public.
• Maintain situational awareness to identify potential hazards and take corrective action.
• Sign Installation and Removal:
• Install and remove traffic control signs, cones, and barricades as needed.
• Ensure that signage is visible and compliant with regulatory standards. Documentation:
• Complete required paperwork and documentation related to traffic control activities.
• Report any incidents or safety concerns promptly.
• Training and Awareness:
• Participate in ongoing training to stay current with traffic control regulations and best practices.
• Promote a culture of safety and awareness among the team.

Person Specifications
Education, Training &
Skills Flagman/Flagwoman Certification:
• Valid flagman/flagwoman certification/license.
• Proven experience in traffic control, preferably in construction or roadwork environments.

Communication Skills:
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow and convey signals accurately. Safety Training:
• Completion of relevant safety training courses.
• Familiarity with traffic control regulations and standards.
• Physical Fitness:
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions

Working Conditions:
• This position involves working in construction or roadwork areas.
• Flagmen/Flagwomen may be required to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
