Job Purpose/Mission
As Systems Administrator within the Global IT team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, support, and proactive resolution of any infrastructure-related issues in both our AWS and in-country environments, supporting and acting as an escalation point for the country IT teams. This will include monitoring of system performance, troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions to improve system efficiency and reliability. You will work closely with DevOps Engineers, ENGIE Group IT teams and local IT to ensure that our infrastructure meets the needs of the business.
You will additionally provide support for end-users for any IT-related issues, logging these in the IT Service Desk and resolving these issues within the laid-down SLAs where they exist or to ensure that end users are provided with a satisfactory level of service.
Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management
• Administer and maintain infrastructure, including AWS instances, on-premises servers (virtualised or otherwise), network devices and storage systems to ensure their proper functioning and availability.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve any issues or bottlenecks that may affect availability, reliability, and security.
• Collaborate with other members of the Digital team and other stakeholders to understand their infrastructure needs and implement solutions to meet those needs in our environments.
System Maintenance and Upgrades
• Implement system upgrades, patches and migrations in a timely and efficient manner that causes minimal disruption to the business and the user community.
• Perform regular system backups and ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
• Participate in and lead the design and implementation of highly available and scalable architecture, including multi-country deployments in-line with group best practices.
Security and Compliance
• Implement and enforce ENGIE group standard security tools, including Zero-Trust Network Access via Zscaler, Endpoint protection via CrowdStrike, and following group best practice to protect systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
• Lead support for cybersecurity incident response resolution where infected endpoints are identified across EEA and ensure that GSOC SIRP tickets are updated and resolved in a timely manner.
Troubleshooting and Support
• Resolve technical issues that have been escalated from local IT teams and/or other end users.
• Provide technical support and guidance to local IT teams and end users as needed and log all issues with their associated resolutions in the IT Service Desk.
• Manage, support, and resolve complex technical PBX issues escalated by the local IT teams and/or end users to minimise disruption to customer experience.
• Participate in on-call rotations to respond to any critical issues outside of normal business hours.
Documentation and Training
• Create and maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies to ensure that our infrastructure is well-documented and easily maintained.
• Conduct training (refresher or otherwise) for all EEA IT teams and end users on system usage and best practice.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
• Provide mentorship and leadership to local IT team members, ensuring that assigned tasks are carried out according to designated process and workflows.
• Collaborate with local IT teams, other members of the Digital team (including Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, PBX Engineer and Data Engineers) and other ENGIE IT stakeholders to implement and manage solutions that are aligned with the business needs and group practice.
Experience & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in system administration
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V or Proxmox
• Strong understanding of AWS services and associated technologies, such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and VPC, as well as Linux/Unix-based operating systems
• Cybersecurity certification such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC
Language(s):
• English
• French is a plus
Technology:
• AWS certification, such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
• virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V or Proxmox
• ITILv4
• Experience with PBX communications technology, including SIP
