JOB DETAILS:
Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is a German non-profit organisation that implements media development projects in crisis regions. Activities focus on the interplay between conflict, media coverage and reconciliation. MiCT’s services comprise the training of journalists and media producers, programme and content development, radio and film production, magazine and book publishing, as well as media research and monitoring in conflict regions.

"Strengthening Media Capacities and Networks in the Nile Basin" aims to amplify balanced and constructive narratives around water resource management and cooperation in the Nile Basin region. The project is a collaboration between Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT), the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), and other partners.

The project's overall objective is to strengthen media capacities and networks in the Nile Basin to support constructive and solution-oriented approaches to water-related conflicts in the Nile Basin.

The specific objectives of the project are:
• To reach a broad audience of Nile Basin citizens with in-depth, fact-based and constructive reporting on Nile Basin issues.
• To strengthen and expand the existing network of multimedia Nile Basin journalists and media organisations, widening ownership over the network to include more stakeholders and journalists in the region.
• To generate incentives for journalists and media houses to engage in more fact-based and constructive reporting on Nile Basin issues.

The Grant Facility Manager is a key position in the "Strengthening Media Capacities and Networks in the Nile Basin" project. This role is responsible for the management of the grant facility, overseeing the calls for submission, the selection process, and the coordination of the jury for grant recipients. This role is also tasked with maintaining the project website and social media channels.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Grant Facility Management
o Prepare and announce open calls for project submissions.
o Oversee the application and selection process.
o Coordinate the jury for the selection of grant recipients.
o Ensure quality control of final deliverables from grant recipients.
2. Budget Management
o Oversee and manage the budget allocated for the grant facility.
o Ensure timely disbursements and financial reporting.
o Monitor financial compliance with grant terms and conditions.
3. Project Website Maintenance
o Update and manage the project website, theniles.org.
o Ensure all content is current and aligns with project objectives.
4. Social Media Channel Management
o Maintain and update social media channels.
o Engage with the community and disseminate project updates.
5. Reporting and Documentation
o Maintain records of grant recipients, project submissions, and jury decisions.
o Prepare regular reports on grant facility performance, financial status, and impact.

Requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree in Media Studies, Communication, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the coordination of media projects.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must be based in Uganda.
• Regional experience in East Africa is an advantage.
