JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
As the Head of maintenance at our esteemed 50 room hotel, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operations, safety and functionality of all physical assets and systems within the property. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in maintaining a comfortable and welcoming environment for our guests, while also supporting the hotel’s mission to provide exceptional hospitality experiences.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities
Maintenance Leadership:
• Supervise and lead a team of maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Provide clear direction, guidance and support to team members, fostering a culture of team work and excellence.

Preventive Maintenance
• Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to address the hotel’s assets, including rooms, public areas, equipment and systems.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues, ensure compliance with safety standards and prevent breakdowns.

Repairs and Troubleshooting
• Oversee all maintenance and repair tasks, promptly addressing issues reported by guests, staff or through regular inspections.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems related to electrical, plumbing, HV Air conditioners and other building systems.

Budgeting and Inventory Management:
• Collaborate with the management team to establish the maintenance budget ensuring cost effective practices and resource allocation.
• Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts, tools and equipment necessary for the maintenance operations.

Health and Safety Compliance:
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and building regulations to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
• Implement proper emergency response procedures and conduct regular safety training for maintenance staff.

Vendor and Contractor Management
• Coordinate with external vendors, suppliers and contractors for specialized maintenance and repair services when required.
• Evaluate contractor performance and negotiate services contracts to secure competitive pricing and quality Service.

Sustainability initiatives:
• Champion Sustainable and energy-efficient practices throughout the hotel to reduce environmental impact and operational costs.

Record Keeping:
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders and equipment servicing.
• Generate reports for management, outlining maintenance performance, expenses and future plans.

Qualifications and Education required;
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or relevant degrees are a plus.
• Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably within the hospitality industry.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HV AC, and general building maintenance systems.
• Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team of maintenance professionals.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, guests and external partners.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a secure environment.
• Proficiency in computer systems and software for maintenance reporting and tracking.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
