Job Brief
The Head of Clinical Laboratory Services and Business Development is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the clinical laboratory operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services, and driving the growth and expansion of laboratory services through strategic business development initiatives. This includes oversight of laboratory compliance, technology, staff, and financial performance, while also identifying and leveraging business opportunities to enhance the laboratory's market position and financial stability.
Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Laboratory Services Management
• Oversee the clinical laboratory's operational performance, ensuring services are compliant with all regulatory standards and meet quality assurance benchmarks.
• Lead the development and implementation of new tests and services, incorporating the latest technological advancements in laboratory medicine.
• Ensure the laboratory staff is adequately trained and competent to deliver high-quality laboratory results.
• Foster collaboration between laboratory personnel and healthcare providers to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction.
• Monitor and control laboratory expenses to maintain budgetary guidelines and optimize resources.
Business Development
• Identify and develop new business opportunities, including partnerships, collaborations, and expansion into new markets.
• Strategically network with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other potential clients to promote laboratory services.
• Participate in contract negotiations to secure profitable agreements with clients and vendors.
• Attend industry conferences and events to stay updated on market trends and to represent the laboratory's interests.
• Collaborate with the marketing department to create promotional materials and outreach programs to enhance the laboratory's visibility and reputation.
Leadership and Strategy
• Develop long-term strategic business plans for the laboratory, including growth targets and initiatives.
• Lead and mentor the laboratory management team, setting clear objectives and performance metrics.
• Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the laboratory.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization.
• Provide regular reports to the CEO and board members on laboratory performance, business growth, and strategic developments.
Education, Skills and Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in a Clinical Laboratory Science, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in clinical laboratory leadership with a track record in business development.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, accreditation standards, and quality control practices.
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
• Proven ability to drive business growth and financial performance in a healthcare setting.
