JOB DETAILS:
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the role holder will be responsible for effectively implementing the Bank’s accounting policies and providing timely, accurate, relevant, and reliable management information.
Enhancing quality decision making through value adding investment appraisals, post investment reviews, financial modeling, trends, and scenario analyses.
Supporting the strategic decision making process of the Bank through the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts in line with the strategic objectives of the Bank.
Supporting strategy execution by driving accountability and transparency in the delivery of strategic initiatives through best-in-class Performance Management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Prepare annual budgets in line with the bank’s strategic objectives.
• Prepare periodic and ad hoc scenario-based forecasts to enhance management and board decision making in strategy implementation.
• Prepare monthly management accounts ensuring the completeness, accuracy and relevance of the information to support decision making.
• Prepare business performance reports including profitability of business units, segments, channels, products and relationship managers considering transfer pricing.
• Review business cases for financial feasibility, including new products, new channels, other CAPEX investments and cost reduction initiatives.
• Undertake post-investment reviews to assess the realization of expected benefits and unlocking of value.
• Build dynamic financial models to drive insight into business operations and provide recommendations and key findings to leadership teams.
• Provide advice and support to management on financial risks that might have an impact on profitability and sustainability.
• Support strategy execution by providing timely, accurate management information on the performance of strategic initiatives.
• Provide business key performance measurement, tracking and benchmarking against past and desired performance.
• Periodically review and advise on appropriateness of KPIs based on their observed relative importance to results.
• Lead the team of finance business partners to ensure that they are in constant liaison with the business and are the first point of contact on the interpretation of financial information.
• Perform market research to size the market determine leaders, laggers and potential opportunities in which the bank may have a competitive advantage.
• Support process optimization projects to drive workflow efficiency with effective measurement of staff productivity and optimisation of cost-to-serve.
• Interact with the Internal and External Audit team and provide necessary information as and when required.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• University Graduate in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or related field.
• Fully qualified accountant with a recognized institute (ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
• MBA is an added advantage.
• Seven (7) years’ experience with at least 2 at a management level.
• Knowledge of the banking sector including the Financial Institutions Act (FIA) 2004 and amendments thereto.
• Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Ugandan tax legislation.
• Fluency in spoken/written English.
• Good computer literacy with excellent use MS Office.
• Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
• Knowledge of the basics of project management.
• Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Good stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive self-starter able to work under own initiative.
• Teamwork and Collaboration.
• Candor (transparency).
