To plan for and manage the bank’s ICT requirements to allow for efficient and effective execution of all bank operations by ensuring that on a daily basis the bank has availability of information systems and communication technology while also facilitating the determination and co-ordination of all User ICT requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Provide advice on the establishment of the Bank’s hardware, software and ICT security policies and oversee the related procedures. Customize and implement the ICT policy and put in place controls to minimize ICT risks and achieve better audit ratings.
- Prepare ICT department year planner in line with budget estimates given and the Bank’s strategic plan. Contribute to the development of the bank’s strategic and business plans in relation to ICT in order to support the bank’s mission and core objectives.
- Ensure smooth flow of work in the ICT department and shape ICT goals to meet the strategic objectives.
- Manage ICT departmental financial budgets by reviewing ICT budget against actual costs ensuring spend is within approved limit.
- Follow and give updates on issues that require management input. Identify, recommend and implement key ICT business requirements and provide to the bank a wide source of expertise on information technology and communication systems.
- Negotiate service level agreements with external providers for the provision of services to the Bank and develop a cost benefit scenario to select best providers. Ensure proper management of outsourced ICT services.
- Implement and monitor the efficient and effective availability and usage of all system applications.
- Implement an efficient and effective DRP/BCP solution.
- Direct and manage IT staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and trained and carry out their responsibilities to the required standard. Fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training and advice as required to users and IT staff on information systems to ensure that they make the best use of systems.
- Plan and organize departmental activities to ensure the timely, quality and on budget execution.
- Implement and maintain bank’s network and system security, and ensure proper audit coordination both internal and external audits on ICT.
Additional Responsibilities
The Bank reserves the right to amend, modify, or adjust the responsibilities of this position as business needs evolve, in alignment with applicable labour laws. The Employee may also be required to undertake additional duties or projects from time to time, within their capabilities and consistent with the responsibilities of the role, as directed by the Employer.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer Science or related field. Additional Certification in CCNA, MCSE, CISA or any other related qualification.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in systems development, implementation, and data base administration with at least 2 years at management level.
- At least 3 years Banking experience
- Good knowledge of ICT and ICT Systems
- Management in administration of network resources, servers and related systems’ configuration and maintenance.
- Ability to work under pressure and challenging environment.
- Good Planning and Project Management skills
- Good presentation and report writing skills
- Understands the business and can proactively see ICT solutions to business problems
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff and service providers
- A good team player with people management skills
Additional Requirements/Competencies
- Willingness to travel for stakeholder meetings, regulatory consultations, and operational reviews as needed.
- High ethical standards and a commitment to the values of the Bank.
