Pride Microfinance Limited (MDI) is a Microfinance Deposit- taking Institution regulated and supervised by Bank of Uganda (BoU) under the MDI Act, 2003 and MDI Regulations, 2004 with capital a base of Ugx. 168.6 billion. Pride’s purpose is transforming lives responsibly.
Pride offers innovative financial solutions to largely people at the base of the economic pyramid and serves its customers through 37 networked branches and 7 contact offices spread across the country. Pride implements sustainability sound practices throughout its business operations to create a positive impact through three sustainability pillars; economic, environment, and social as well as contributing to the Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) and their investable sub-goals that relate to microfinance activities.
Pride Microfinance Ltd would like to fill the following vacant position in preparation to transform into a Tier II Credit Institution.
Knowledge, Skills & Competences
• Media management, public relations management, brand management, stakeholder engagement, digital and social media management.
• The ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form in a professional, ability to build sustainable working relationships across organizational, corporate, and cultural boundaries.
• Must have good creative, verbal and written communication skills with good organizational and administrative skills.
• Ability to translate strategy into achievable performance objectives.
• Good knowledge of modern practices in marketing and communications.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
The Head of Marketing and Communication will oversee the development and execution of marketing strategies and communication initiatives, aimed at promoting Pride’s products, services, and brand. He/she will also play a key role in shaping Pride’s public image and reputation and ensure that all communications are in line with regulatory requirements and Pride’s core values.
Responsibilities:
• Work with and guide the key business segments to develop suitable product and service marketing strategies for Pride’s products and services to ensure reach and effect on target customers.
• Lead internal processes for sourcing external service providers for digital, advertising, communications, creative, PR & sustainability services.
• Supervise the retained external agencies and guide them to develop appropriate strategies and plans for all product and services marketing and awareness campaign including determination of campaign goals and objectives, target markets/audiences, choice of appropriate medium etc.
• Supervise and direct social media marketing and creative agencies during the conceptualization, design and production of marketing messages and collateral.
• Prepare and manage annual budgets for the marketing and communications department.
• Ensure that the Pride’s brand message is strong and consistent across all channels and marketing efforts (like events, email campaigns, web pages and promotional material).
• Identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share through use of appropriate marketing channels and communications medium.
• Provide strategic direction towards strengthening the Pride’s reputation and relationships with key customers and external stakeholders.
• Accountable for developing plans and activities that support the development of the institution’s brand and external market perception.
• Directly support the Managing Director and Executive Director in representations to external stakeholder.
• Under close guidance/delegation from the CEO, act as Pride's spokesperson and represent the Institution at a senior level for public events where necessary.
• Manage the performance and development of staff in the department in line with the set key result areas (KRAs) outlined in their respective performance contracts.
Qualifications
• A relevant master’s degree or an equivalent.
• A business degree in marketing, PR & communications, commerce, business studies, economics, management or any relevant field.
• Relevant practical training in brand enhancement, corporate communications, PR & sustainability in the financial services sector is essential.
Details of experience
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience, 5 of which must have been in managerial role in marketing and communications.
