JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose
• Accountable for the smooth running of all the Central Transaction Processing Operations, Trade Services Operations, Treasury Operations, Electronic Delivery Channels and Reconciliation Operations, Account and Registry Services.
• Accountable for ensuring that necessary controls are implemented while delivering an efficient service across all the bank’s back-office operations.
Responsibilities /Key Deliverables
• Monitor and implementation of the Bank’s centralized operations including cash management, trade services, payments, clearing, reconciliation, treasury back-office processes and settlement, account opening and registry services to ensure efficient support of business in line with service level agreements and the Bank’s policies and procedural manuals.
• Responsible for re-engineering business processes to improve customer service, cost efficiencies and controls.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements relating to Banking Operations by instituting and implementing necessary controls and monitoring mechanisms.
• Ensure that an effective documentation of user guide/manual is in place and implement operational improvements to reduce operational costs, tighten controls, and improve service quality and customer service.
• Establish and review key operational risk indicators/key control standards and formulate action plans to minimize exposure of the bank to frauds and operational risks.
• Manage the Bank’s operational risk exposure by supporting the business to identify areas of operational risk exposures and implementing corrective actions.
• Manage the banking operations back-office staff productivity and budget.
• Develop and implement business continuity plans for continuous service delivery.
• Provide robust communication and feedback to the COO and EXCO on all matters affecting the back-office support of the bank.
• Champion the tactical implementation of service delivery plans to ensure best customer experience in line with the bank’s standards and metrics.
• Work with Change and Digital Transformation, Information Technology, Customer Experience and Administration and other support departments to devise and drive focus on self-service initiatives that ensure reduced cost of service and optimal customer experience.
• Management performance and development of staff in the department in line with the set key performance indicators outlined in each staff’s performance contracts.
Financial Responsibility
• Responsible for Operations Department budget (OPEX & CAPEX)
• Responsible for controlling costs to within the agreed risk appetite of the bank.
Person Specification
Education & Training
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Management, or similar relevant business-related fields.
• Possession of a Banking, Accounting or Finance Certification or master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
• Relevant practical trainings in Banking Operations
Skills & Experience
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in supervised Financial Services Institutions with at least 5 years at a Senior Management level.
• Knowledge of regulatory framework of the Supervised Financial Institutions.
• Knowledge of operating systems and project management.
• Strong knowledge of back-office reconciliation processes and a tool for risk management and customer service delivery.
• Knowledge of interbank clearing and settlements, funds transfer, SWIFT systems.
• Strong exposure to banking technology solutions and understanding of project delivery methodologies and change management.
• Vendor relationship management
• Experience in business continuity management and development of business recovery plans
• Strong understanding of digital transformation and the back-office process management.
• Computer based Analytical skills and numeric problem skills.
