Reports to: Commercial Banking Director

Job Purpose
The Head of Treasury will be responsible for corporate liquidity, investments, and risk management related to the company's treasury activities. Drive initiatives that enhance client relations and ensure operational efficiency and service delivery in line with Equity Bank's business growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities
1. Develop strategic plan and Execution of Treasury strategies to deliver the banks business objectives
2. Money Market/ Forex Trading-Develop and execute investment strategies of surplus funds in treasury bills, bonds and other money market instruments
3. Manage the dealing/interbank borrowing, lending and foreign exchange activity from end to end
4. Liquidity and Cash Management functions. Control and manage the bank's money both in terms of capital and liquidity
5. Manage any potential risks to minimize impact of external risk on P&L and Balance Sheet
6. Develop innovative treasury products that will enable the bank to meet its business objectives
7. Deliver market information and insight to key stakeholders such as Board, Management and customers
8. Actively identify and market clients with potential to grow revenues from sales of treasury products and services
9. Ensuring that the bank Treasury policies and practices always comply with the Regulator guidelines
10. Will be required to build, foster and maintain relationships with clients
11. Develop, engage and provide leadership for the Treasury team

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1. A Bachelor's degree in any discipline from an accredited institution. A Master's Degree in business, finance or management is an added advantage At least eight (8) years' experience in financial institution within the treasury function at an organization of similar and complexity.
2. five (5) of which must be at managerial/supervisory level
3. ACI Dealing Certificate
4. Sound knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements of corporate governance, business and banking operations.
5. Good knowledge of money markets, equity trading, margin trading and other capital market instruments
6. Knowledge of appropriate treasury and financial software packages
7. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the macro environment
8. Ability to formulate and execute strategy
9. Experience in lending terms
10. Communication skills and empathic listening
11. Exposure to Risk Management
12. Ability to build and sustain Customer relationships
13. Approachable with interpersonal skills
