JOB DETAILS:
Overview:
• URC is seeking an experienced Health Informatics Specialist for the USAID Uganda Health Activity (UHA), a five-year program. The purpose of UHA is to support the Government of Uganda’s (GOU’s) efforts to increase the survival and well-being of vulnerable populations and improve overall health system resilience in seven priority regions. The program will strengthen the quality and availability of MNCH, FP/RH, nutrition, and facility-level WASH services as well as health systems at the regional-, district-, facility-, and community-levels.

Responsibilities:
The Health Informatics Specialist will be an integral part of the Activity’s monitoring and evaluation team. They will provide leadership to Activity efforts to improve data automation and visualization. Specific responsibilities include the following:
• Develop data management systems that support the collection, sharing, standardization, and integration of healthcare data.
• Collaborate with MOH staff and partners to train health staff on health information system deployment and management.
• Providing technical support, optimizing network security, and maintaining databases.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare information management regulations.
• Document processes, maintaining records, and preparing reports.
• Keep abreast of advancements in the field of health informatics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Exceptional knowledge of health information system design and database management.
• In-depth knowledge of best practices in healthcare information management.
• Superb analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Qualifications:
Required Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, computer sciences, or a related field.
• A minimum of five (5) years' experience as a health informatics specialist.
• Advanced proficiency in programming languages and EMR software, such as SQL and Epic.

Desired Experience and Qualifications
• Previous experience working with URC or USAID.
• A Master's degree in health informatics is an added advantage.
