JOB DETAILS:
3 Main Responsibilities:
• The Human Rights Officer will lead the overall management, implementation, and reporting for CSSA's human rights, policy and advocacy work.
• He/she will provide strategic oversight and leadership to help CSSA achieve its project human rights Advocacy and public policy goals by reaching out to government policy makers, representatives from bilateral and multilateral organizations, and other key decision makers.
• He/she will be responsible for supporting research and analysis, producing key project documents, and monitoring relevant policy developments.
• He/she will also help strengthen the capacity of CSSA partners, ensuring CSOs comply with statutory registration and reporting requirements, and supporting their human rights and advocacy initiatives and actions, networking and collaboration with relevant stakeholders at local, national, regional, and international level.
Required Qualifications:
• A Master's degree in international relations, human rights, anthropology/social/political sciences, law, or other relevant field.
• A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in human rights monitoring and investigation, political affairs, international relations, law or related area is required.
• Experience/knowledge of national and international development and relevant human rights frameworks.
• Extensive experience in designing, managing capacity building programs for CSOs, and conducting Human Rights trainings is required.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Uganda's NGO legal and regulatory frameworks, including registration, operations, reporting, labor, taxation matters, etc.
• Research and analytical skills, including ability to identify and participate in the resolution of human rights issues. Excellent written and verbal English including the ability to produce clear articulate evidence-based policy analysis.
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision, and ability to manage high volume. Is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and editing skills in English. Well-developed computer skills.
• Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver high volumes of work with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional interpersonal and time-management skills.
