JOB DETAILS:

Reports to: Programs Manager
Immediate Supervisor: ICT Manager
Employment Type: Independent Contract, part-time
Job Duration: 5 months
Job Purpose: Under direction of the ICT Program Head, the Computer Instructor will be expected to carry out the professional duties of an instructor, to secure the highest standards of learning and achievement for students within an atmosphere where students feel challenged, valued, safe and secure.

Key Responsibilities
• The ICT Instructor will be expected to contribute to the work of the S.O.U.L Foundation in a range of ways. This jobdescription should be read in conjunction with the competences required for DIT trainers.
• Identify resource needs; develop and maintain departmental resources; keep subject areas tidy and have effective displays. Follow agreed safety procedures for the ICT Lab and department.
• Teach allocated classes and provide a well-planned, challenging and purposeful learning environment for students using appropriate teaching methods and resources.
• Mark and monitor students’ class and homework providing constructive oral and written feedback; set targets for students’ progress.
• Contribute to enrichment activities which further the aims of the computer program.
• Assess and record each student’s progress, including through observation, questioning, testing and marking. Use assessment to inform interventions to ensure students make good progress.
• Ensure that students make the expected DIT progress in comparison to similar students nationally and regionally, as shown by any relevant tests, assessments and examinations
• Understand and know how national, local and school data can be used to set clear targets for students’ achievement.
• Set high expectations for students’ behavior, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline.
• Undertake student supervisory duties.
• Contribute to discussions about teaching methods, work schemes and departmental policies.
• Maintain familiarity with DIT assessment and compliance requirements.
• Prepare and present informative reports to parents and meet with them to discuss students’ progress.
• Demonstrate high standards of professional conduct in all communication with students, staff and parents
• Contribute to the development of S.O.U.L Foundation’s computer program.

Requirements:
Educational Qualifications
• A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline)
• Graduated from a NCHE accredited institute
• Minimum 1 year of teaching experience
Professional Experience
• Ability to teach to all abilities across the ICT field
• Ability to contribute to curriculum development
• Commitment to raising standards of student achievement
• Willingness to work constructively with parent and guardians
• Successful school-based training in secondary and tertiary age range

Professional Knowledge, Understanding and Competencies
A successful applicant will need to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:
• Computer networking
• Computer Repair and maintenance
• Office applications (word processing, electronic spreadsheets, publications, presentations and databases)
• Effective practice and approaches to teaching, learning and assessment
• Current educational trends and developments in teaching subject/wider School matters
• Effective use of ICT & e-learning in their teaching
• Strategies for motivating and inspiring students, and managing student behavior
• Understanding of the importance of Continuing Professional Development and its role in improving classroom
• practice; preparedness to compile a portfolio of training and on-going professional development
• Safeguarding
• Health and safety of learners in the ICT lab.

• Pays attention to detail and accuracy in written/verbal reporting
• Possesses excellent organizational skills and can meet set deadlines.
