JOB DETAILS:
Yako Bank is seeking a skilled and proactive IT Support Officer to provide technical support, ensure smooth IT operations, and assist in maintaining a secure and efficient IT infrastructure. This role is vital to ensuring that the bank's IT systems and processes run seamlessly, supporting both internal and customer-facing services.
Responsibilities
As an IT Support Officer, your key responsibilities may include:
1. Technical Support and Troubleshooting
o Provide first-line technical support to bank staff and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
o Install and configure IT equipment, including computers, printers, and network devices.
o Assist with system upgrades and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
2. Network and Security Support
o Monitor and maintain network systems to ensure connectivity and reliability.
o Implement and adhere to security protocols to protect the bank's data and IT systems.
o Identify and resolve potential security vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
3. IT Operations Management
o Perform regular system health checks and backups.
o Ensure the availability of IT resources to support daily business operations.
o Maintain accurate records of IT inventory and incident reports.
4. Support for Banking Applications
o Assist with the configuration and troubleshooting of banking software and applications.
o Collaborate with external vendors to resolve software-related issues.
5. Compliance and Training
o Ensure adherence to the bank's IT policies and regulatory requirements set by the Bank of Uganda.
o Train and support staff in using IT systems effectively.
Qualifications and Competencies
Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience
• At least 2 years of experience in IT support, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
• Familiarity with banking applications and systems.
• Strong knowledge of data security protocols and IT best practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and IT ticketing systems.
Soft Skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Proactive and self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt.
