Location: Uganda
Our client, the largest franchisee of French giant group CARREFOUR owned and operated by MAJID AL FUTTAIM in Uganda is looking for an Import Assistant Manager. The middle East based group is currently operating more than 375 Carrefour Stores in 17 countries with more than 37000 employees
Role Purpose
Responsible for establishing and maintaining a process which guarantees the timely delivery of all goods, both merchandize and assets to all the stores by ensuring that all internal processes as well as local and international rules and regulations for import of goods are followed. Facilitator between Logistics and Operations to utilize synergies both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities
• Maintain and exercise the import / operations procedures for the company.
• Ensure that KPI's provided for logistics service are strictly achieved and meet the
• targets defined.
• Ensure assets are delivered accordingly in the least time and cost-effective manner possible and in accordance to the store expansion.
• Ensure proper reporting and documentations for all import operations procedures.
• Follow-up of the clearance process to ensure the release of the goods in the fastest manner. Calculate the landed costs, control their correct application, follow their consistency with the actuals and inform the merchandise team Ensure that contracts with logistics providers are in line with current business practices, propose modifications to improve the quality of services
• Respect the local regulations in import activities and anticipate their evolution
• Ensure monthly sea freight and airfreight orders for all stores are strictly done to avoid out of stock
• Ensure all store orders are well executed by DC and re delivered on time to stores with the lowest cost
• Participate in the supplier sourcing by ensuring suppliers are well aware of import guidelines and rules to respect Carry out the registration and label approval of the import and Private Label Goods
• Propose solutions to merchandise team to import and products Ensure the correct application of scope of applications by logistics service providers Follow-up of the clearance process to ensure the release of the goods in the fastest manner
• Calculate the landed costs, control their correct application, follow their consistency with the actuals and inform the merchandise team.
• Ensure that contracts with logistics providers are in line with current business practices, propose modifications to improve the quality of services Control the import and logistics waste and propose actions to reduce it Respect the local regulations in import activities and anticipate their evolution .
• Maintain the ordering to delivery calendar updates for all promotional major events. Ensure that cold chain requirements are respected for all import shipments.
• Respect the procedures in accordance with the DOA Guarantee and ensure the correct invoicing by logistics providers. Guarantee the information provided to Finance is accurate and given on time
• . Communicate to external parties the loss claims and the follow-up their compensation till payment by third parties.
• Control that store claims are treated and answered to the stores Propose solutions to reduce landed costs with same quality of services.

Minimum Qualifications/education
• Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, Business Management, Commerce or equivalent. Minimum experience
• 3+ years professional similar position experience in a logistics company. Skills
• Additional qualification in Logistics and Supply Chain related course is an added
advantage
• Good knowledge of all local rules and regulations regarding the import of goods
• Excellent knowledge and proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel and
PowerPoint).
• Good communication, presentation and negotiations skills
• Very good organizational and time management skills
