Duration: six months renewable.
Working hours: Part-time, 12 hours a week (Three hours a day, four days a week)
Salary: Negotiable and commences after securing a grant.

About Water Journalists Africa
Water Journalists Africa is a not-for-profit media organisation founded in 2011 that has a membership of journalists reporting on water, climate change, and wildlife in 50 countries across the African continent.
Water Journalists Africa is implementing a flagship project called InfoNile, a geojournalism project and cross-border network of more than 800 water and environmental journalists in the Nile Basin, founded in 2017. It uses data journalism and multimedia formats to shed light on water and climate change crises and working solutions. Its approach involves identifying cross-border water and climate change data and stories, training and mentoring journalists in environment, data, and science journalism, and supporting journalists to produce in-depth investigative stories.
InfoNile links journalists and scientists to report cross-border investigations and maps published in various media outlets in the 5 Nile Basin languages.
Water Journalists Africa’s newest project, the Apes Reporting Project, was founded in 2020. Through creative journalism techniques and formats, the Apes Reporting project informs, educates, and inspires a passion for conservation in people to protect Africa’s Great Apes and their habitats. The Apes Reporting Project runs the following social media platforms: X, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
About the role
Water Journalists Africa is seeking an Intern Fundraiser to join its Apes Reporting Project team. In this role, the fundraiser will research fundraising opportunities, develop relationships with potential donors, and manage fundraising campaigns.
Successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus strong leadership qualities.
Intern Fundraiser Responsibilities:
• Researching potential donors,
• Writing grant applications and fundraising proposals and sending these to potential donors,
• Strategizing and successfully executing fundraising campaigns,
• Developing fundraising events,
• Maintaining records of donors,
• Organizing campaigns that will lead to donations,
• Using specialist software to keep records, manage donations, and send communications.
Intern Fundraiser Requirements:
• Relevant University degree.
• Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters.
• Creativity and persuasion skills.
• Competence with donor management systems.
• Negotiation abilities.
• The ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
• Creative thinking.
• Detail-oriented.
• Good organizational skills.
• Strong leadership qualities.
