Oxfam is an international NGO confederation which works in over 90 countries to find lasting solutions to poverty, inequality and injustice. In Uganda, Oxfam started work in the 1960s and since then it has continued implementing both development and humanitarian projects to support practical innovative ways for people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive.
Oxfam with funding from UNHCR is tasked with supporting the WASH needs of persons of concern in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement and the host communities.
Oxfam in Uganda and partners are building on experiences and lessons gained in responding to the refugee crisis in West Nile and Western Uganda. This action will strengthen the initiatives for increasing and sustaining water supply options through enhanced operation and management of recently established WASH systems and new installations in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement; extensions as well as optimization of the facilities to meet needs of existing and additional refugees while taking care of the associated gender, protection and social cohesion aspects of the targeted population including host community.
