What We Do EarthEnable is transforming the way people live, by making homes healthier for families across rural Rwanda and Uganda. 80% of Rwandans and Ugandans live in homes with dirt floors which are dusty, unsanitary, and fertile breeding grounds for parasites and germs. While replacing a dirt floor with concrete has significant health benefits (e.g. reducing diarrhea by 50% and parasitic infections by 80%), concrete is unaffordable for many who need it.
EarthEnable addresses this pressing and ubiquitous problem by selling high-quality, earthen floors that are 80% cheaper than concrete with 90% less embodied energy. Earthen floors are prevalent in modern homes in the United States and are composed of natural materials (gravel, clay, sand, and laterite). EarthEnable trains and hires local masons to install the floors which are sealed using a proprietary drying oil that makes them waterproof, strong, and polished.
About the Role This role will work collaboratively with our systems team in Rwanda as well as district teams across Uganda. The person in this role will be exposed to a wide range of systems activities and will gain experience from a variety of tasks, including analysis and cleaning of large datasets, providing IT support and training to employees throughout the company, developing IT tools to improve our business processes, and more. We are looking to hire someone who is a quick learner, a self-starter, comfortable working with computers, and interested in growing into managerial role. He/She will be working in jinja in close interaction with the systems manager who sits in Rwanda.
The responsibilities of this role will include, but not be limited to: • Serve as a system administrator for the salesforce.com environment
• Handle all basic administrative functions including user account maintenance, reports and dashboards, workflows, and other routine tasks
• Complete regular internal system audits and prepare for upgrades and handle salesforce user data entry errors
• Train fellow employees in how to use the current system and how to adjust to system updates
• Mass updating and uploading of data as needed
• Work from salesforce back-end to ensure all workflows are aligned with the company’s needs
• Coordinate the evaluation, scope, and completion of new development requests.
• Implementing innovative solutions
• Travel to districts across uganda to clean data, train new employees, and complete other systems tasks
• Learn how to manipulate other IT tools used by EE including Formyoula, WordPress, etc.
• Complete full system backup
• Assist all departments as needed
• Clean, Analyze and present datasets independently and in collaboration with fellow employees
Qualifications • A bachelor’s diploma/degree in computer science, information technology and any related courses
• 3-4 years of work experience with at least 2 years working with IT systems
• A knack for IT and a passion for helping people to improve their lives through our product
• Strong computer skills(use of MS Office, advanced excel, structured query language(SQL) etc) and a demonstrated ability to learn new computer programs quickly
• Effective at collaboration and instructing employees in how to use systems
• Ability to work independently
• Fluency in English and the ability to communicate in these two local languages:- lusoga and luganda
• Prior knowledge of salesforce or an equivalent CRM platform a plus
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Positive attitude, self-starter, entrepreneurial spirit, sense of humor, and willingness to learn new things

WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO EarthEnable is a non-profit organization with the mission of eliminating substandard housing by
kickstarting an affordable rural housing industry. EarthEnable vets, trains, quality assures and
sells varnish to micro-franchisees and master-franchisees who sell and install EarthEnable’s
flagship earthen floors and other eco-friendly housing products in rural homes.
ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for a motivated and motivating team builder who enjoys developing others. This person should thrive in working with independent, self-motivated young individuals to help them achieve their goals of growth and making ends meet for themselves and their families. This person should be goal-driven and excited to drive results by finding solutions for others and successfully securing their buy-in and commitment to those solutions.
As a Franchisee Coordinator, you will work with a group of approximately 10 - 20 young self-driven people, who we call micro franchisees to support them and help them grow their earthen products sales businesses. You will serve as EarthEnable’s primary point of contact in the district, developing and providing training to our ever-growing network and engaging with these young business men and women by ensuring they comprehend the technical aspects of the businesses they are doing including soft skills and best practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
People management • Build and develop a high performing team of franchisees through embedding performance development and coaching. Ensure that they receive coaching and feedback in order to develop to achieve their maximum potential.
• Determine and manage training needs for each franchisee
• Work with the franchisee team to achieve sales, construction targets & service through village to village business creation activities, effective team leadership and providing feedback to the team.
• Ensure that franchisees manage customer complaints by taking ownership and resolving in a timely manner. Act as the escalation point for their unresolved complaints.
• Ensure franchisees motivate and develop their helpers through a proper reward and recognition system
• Create an empowering environment for hard working franchisees, encouraging individual ownership and initiative.
Business Management • Agree on targets and take accountability for the overall achievement of the performance objectives for the cooperative in terms of : Customer Satisfaction, Builds, Sales, Loss per SQM, Ensure monitoring of progress towards achieving targets is done on a regular basis.
• Ensure that all the paid customers are varnished on a timely basis
• Ensure all payments due franchisees from EarthEnable and The Water Trust are remitted on a timely manner
• Active involvement and accountability in making all varnish purchase/refund decisions e.g. customer refunds.
• Offer clear direction to the franchisees in terms of market potential translating and prioritizing into business performance.
• Ensure that maintenance documents are given to every customer and regularly snap check this to find out whether the customers know and understand how to maintain their floors
• Establish relationships with key individuals in the local area, such as LC1s, parish chiefs, sub county chiefs.
• Support franchisees in marketing to groups such as community cooperatives, village savings and loan associations etc.
Compliance • Ensure all franchisees are compliant with set floor quality standards and health & safety standards while applying anti termite
• Ensure that all members of your team remit money for varnish to you
• Ensure all the money given to you by the franchisees is immediately paid to The Water Trust
• Conduct regular quality checks on floors built by franchisees under your care
• Ensure that all policies set in the agreement between franchisee and The Water Trust are being adhered to.
• Report all incidents of breach within the franchisee agreement to The Water Trust management team for appropriate action
Customer Service • Take ownership of customer service and ensure timely response to customers on outstanding/ escalated issues
• Conduct monthly compliance trend analysis and create action plans to prevent
• recurring issues.
• Ensure all customer floors built by the franchisees are of the highest quality standard.
• Through effective franchisee leadership, ensure that customer waiting time is kept to a minimum. This includes monitoring the Open Issues dashboard which you will be required to create and calling up the franchisees to take action. You will also be required to visit these customers to make sure the issues are resolved.
Administration • Escalate on any issues brought to your attention by the franchisees to TWT management for appropriate action, and provide feedback back to your franchisees about responses from TWT management
QUALIFICATIONS • The ideal candidate should have a diploma or degree in education or social works and social sciences or any business related course.
• Short courses in sales and marketing, leadership is an added advantage
• The Ideal candidate should be a resident within the district (should be able to provide an LC letter confirming their residency in an area within the district)
• The ideal candidate should be aged between 20 – 40 years old.
• The ideal candidate should have strong reputations in the rural communities as well as experience working with communities

Job purpose The position is responsible for ensuring quality in the districts. This role has a wide range of responsibilities, including auditing quality, carrying out the franchisee certification process and supervising the construction. This position works closely with the district managers and the construction team to ensure that the franchisees produce the best possible quality.
Duties and responsibilities • Visit all newly completed construction projects and conduct an assessment of construction quality.
• When visiting a newly completed construction project, conduct the client survey.
• Visit construction projects during various stages to assess the quality of construction work.
• Coordinate with the call center to visit those clients that the call center was unable to reach by phone.
• Fill the formula app correctly for each site visit.
• Report to the quality assurance field manager on a weekly basis.
• Keep district teams informed of what quality issues are found.
• Check the compliance of the company’s standards on the field
• Follow up on the implementation of any new innovation.
• Help and support districts hitting targets /assist them in supervision.
• Help districts to know the main area of improvement and provide advice on techniques to solve field issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Act as primary contact and technical expert on training successful young entrepreneurs with in the district
• Work with peers to prioritize entrepreneurs in need of training
• Execute regional seminars on product installation
• Seek out best practices from neighboring peers and adopt workable strategies
• Support all operations and policies of corporate when interacting with the franchise owners and their employees
• Assist in rolling out new products and systems to the young entrepreneurs
• Assist in onboarding new entrepreneurs
• Manage execution of strategy in marketing, sales, operations, and ensure strategies are aligned and coordinated across departments to avoid inconsistencies or overlap in work streams within the district.
• Work with the regional manager to develop scale strategy and set operational, sales, and financial targets for the district.
• Take ownership of all district-specific projects and deliverables.
• Get out to customer sites to ensure adequate communication of messages and efficient operational procedures at least once a week.
• Actively seek the support of department managers for systems development, team capacity building, and problem solving.
• Ensure that the district is reaching those targets.
• Report regularly to the senior management team, including participation in management meetings at the head office.
