Tunga Nutrition Uganda Limited is a joint venture business of Nutreco BV and Unga Group Plc. Established in March 2022, the business distributes animal nutritional products from the parent companies and is currently building a state-of-the-art animal feed and concentrate production facility at Plot M229, factory close in the Ntinda Industrial area of Kampala, that is due to start operations in Quarter 3 of 2023. The feed production facility will be tapping into local input supply chains to produce the famous Hendrix brand of concentrates and animal feed.

Tunga Nutrition is recruiting staff to strengthen its operations and if you would like to be part of this exciting new venture, below are the positions we are seeking to fill:

Operations Manager
Job Purpose

The Operations Manager is a member of the Site management team and has prime responsibility for planning, directing and coordinating all operational/production activities of the site including production, maintenance, supply chain/logistics & warehousing. They ensure the production and whole supply chain in the most cost effective and efficient way, while meeting all safety, quality, environmental and compliance standards and requirements and sales commitments.

Key Accountabilities include (not limited to):

• Contributing to the Business Strategy and developing/ implementing policies, systems and processes in line with relevant company standards
• Manages the operational activities in the plant, within the applicable Nutreco standards and procedures,
• Leader of the S&OP (Demand and Supply) process in the OpCo with the support of the Supply Chain, sales and finance department
• Provides leadership to their area - managing and coaching the team, setting individual objectives, reviewing performance, giving feedback, succession planning etc
• Develops and/or monitors the relevant KPI's to maintain an insight in the performance of the OpCo in the assigned area against the set targets, and to make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness
• Assures that all activities and operations are executed in line with HSE/Quality / Environment rules, regulations, procedures, instructions, guidelines, and promotes awareness thereof, including addressing anomalies to others.
• Identifies and implements improvements to the OpCo's systems, processes and practices in order to improve/optimize effectiveness and efficiency of the processes.

Required Academic Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or relevant discipline
• Minimum of 5 years experience working in Operations Management role
• Strong leadership skills
• Demonstrable influencing skills
• Thorough knowledge of regulations concerning safety and quality standards
• Solution oriented and pragmatic
• Ability to communicate at all levels

Preferable
• Lean/Operational Excellence experience

Finance Manager
Job Purpose

The Finance Manager ensures the formulation and implementation of the F&A strategy of the Operating Company (OpCo in order to ensure the availability and reliability of adequate (financial) information as well as to contribute to the realisation of the business strategy of the OpCo

Key Accountabilities include (not limited to):

• Formulates a financial strategy which results in short and (mid) long term plans for the department and a framework for the key areas of the department.
• Manage the financial accounting, control and administration organization, processes and systems (general ledger, balance- sheet, P&L statement, cash (flow)/liquidity management, FX, treasury, local tax regulations, insurances, payroll, etc.).
• Sets up and implements year plan(s) for the key area(s) of the company, plans, organizes, co-ordinates and supports the monthly business forecasting process and analyzes to budget.
• Proactively advises management in decisions with substantial financial consequences, and takes care of financial analyses to support these decisions, within corporate guidelines, to ensure financial awareness in decision making and to minimize financial risks.
• Plans, directs and controls risk-management, supervises and controls the handling of claims, within corporate guidelines, in order to guarantee a balance between the financial (economic) risks and the costs of insurance
• Ensures the handling of local tax matters, in line with corporate tax guidelines, in order to comply with relevant local tax rules and legislation.

Required Academic qualifications, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or other relevant field.
• Fully qualified with ACCA or CPA(U) with seven years post qualification experience
• Hands-on financial professional, experienced as being Finance responsible for reporting Profit/Loss & Balance sheet within an International Business and/or Accounting Firm.
• Experience with SAP or other recognized ERP system is strongly preferred.
• Excellent IT skills in MS Office
• Strong communication skills - oral and written English
• Enjoys analysing numbers
• Preferably experience within manufacturing industry
• Able to demonstrate Integrity, Honesty & loyalty
• Entrepreneurial self-starter, an ability to take initiatives and get things done.
• A team player with an international, independent, pragmatic, result oriented attitude.
• Comfortable with a small team and end responsibility for financial results (correctness; timeliness)
• Capable working under tight deadlines.

Maintenance Manager
Job Purpose
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, compliant, efficient and sustainable assets condition to allow production and business supply.

Key Accountabilities (not limited to):
• Plans, prioritises, schedules, and manages all maintenance activities, planned maintenance programmes, shut-downs, or emergency repairs to rectify break-downs and malfunctions and minimise business disruptions.
• Manages all technical maintenance and repair work to be performed by the employees of the maintenance department, plans the work, providing assignments and tasks, and arranging the activities.
• Troubleshoots any mechanical, electrical and technical control of production equipment, utility equipment, and refrigerating systems and in offices and warehouses,
• Prepares preventive maintenance schedules and carries out inspections in the context of preventive and corrective maintenance/overhaul, so that the technical underperforming conditions are timely identified and corrective actions can be taken
• Researches, evaluates, and recommends new equipment, tools and processes in maintenance and production in order to enhance the capabilities of production and/or maintenance.
• Roll out best practices of Maintenance (TPM, AM, PM, ...)
• Ensures compliance with all operating, safety, quality, risk and health regulations.

Required Academic Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential

• Advanced Technical qualification, Minimum - Diploma - Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years experience working in Engineering role within manufacturing organisation
• Experience of managing a small team
• Demonstrable problem solving skills
• Thorough knowledge of regulations concerning all relevant regulations
• Solution oriented and pragmatic
• Ability to communicate at all levels

Preferable
• Lean/Operational Excellence experience

Business IT Specialist
Purpose of Job
The purpose of this position is the operational management of Tunga Nutrition Uganda's IT Systems in line with the Company IT Policy and Strategy. This includes providing support for local business applications, providing support for Unga/Nutreco applications, management of local business applications, management of local IT-related projects and coordination and execution of IT tasks

Key Accountabilities (not limited to):
• Local IT Infrastructure tasks eg local asset management, phones, local contact for printer, switch, router maintenance/replacement on site, aid in remote user issues, document problem resolutions, assist in software deployment, coordinate purchasing/receiving of new computer hardware and software as well as creating the Capex requests
• Support in onboarding and off boarding of new employees. Deployment of the relevant Company IT Policy and Risk Management policy
• Provide application support and execute application maintenance for the local business applications,
• Complete systems modifications, systems tests/audits on new and modified applications and assess system performance to ensure quality assurance as well as post implementation reviews.
• Collaborate and operationally manage external suppliers for support and maintenance of local business applications.
• Initiate new innovations and project proposals based on local requirements
• Responsible for IT budget
• Multi-task and manage multiple support calls meeting specific response times and deadlines.

Required Academic Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential

• Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or relevant discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years experience working in Manufacturing IT environment
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Demonstrable client focus
• Solution oriented and pragmatic
• Ability to communicate at all levels

Preferable

• Project Management Experience SAP Experience
