JOB DETAILS:
In 1995, Epicentre created a permanent research centre in Uganda to support MSF projects in the region. The primary role of Epicentre in Mbarara is to conduct clinical research following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements on critical public health burdens in Uganda and Africa. To reach this objective, Epicentre collaborates closely with the Mbarara University of Science and Technology
(MUST). A full-time experienced research team is based at the Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre.
The Mbarara research centre is located in Mbarara Municipality, 300 km South-West to Kampala.
LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (1 POSITION)
Mission and responsibilities:
The overall goal for the Laboratory Technician position is the successful implementation of study protocols in collaboration with the France (Paris) and Ugandan Principal Investigators, Mbarara-based Epicenter research team, and other collaborators
Location: MSF/Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre (EMRC), Uganda
Reports to: Laboratory Manager
Duration: 8 months, Start date: ASAP .
General responsibilities (not exhautive)
• Perform analyses and report results of laboratory procedures performed in the laboratory, according to GCLP standards.
• Participate in all laboratory activities: CD4+ testing using PIMA analyser, Rapid Diagnostic tests (RDT), haematology, clinical chemistry, smear microscopy, media preparation, others as applicable
• Ensure that the procedures are performed following standard operating procedures (SOP)
• Participate in the implementation of quality assurance procedures
• Participate in follow up of the internal andexternal quality control
• Participate in the regular maintenance of laboratory equipment both internally (daily or weekly procedures) or externally (annual maintenance).
• Participate in the biosafety aspects of the laboratory

• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Techniques
• Experience in laboratory procedures(Hematology, Clinical chemistry, microscopy,
• Use of PIMA CD4+ analyser)
• Knowledge in using word, excel and power point
• Ability to communicate
• Experience/knowledge of GCLP and lab safety requirement
