Duration: 12 Months (Fixed Term)
Dependent on successfully meeting 6 months’ probation period. POSITION PURPOSE
The role of the Lead Education Coordinator is to work alongside the community and schools in order to provide sustainable, exemplary education in the schools of Lwengo, Rakai and Masaka districts. The Lead Education Coordinator will be committed to the Cotton-On Foundation goal of establishing 20,000 Quality educational places by 2020. The role will promote improved learning environments and community participation in education activities. Act as ‘Agitators of Change’ with teachers, School Management Committee (SMC), Support in advocacy in the reduction of Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGB) and be a passionate advocate of children and child protection, Parents Teachers Association (PTA), drive community engagements, and shake up existing norms to deliver on key project milestones and school improvement and development programs. He or she must be a driver of change through the Cotton On Foundation’s Quality Education Standards (QES) and strategically lead the Action planning sessions (AAPs) in fi eld Education Coordinators and with supported schools and provide ongoing Champion Teachers support. More actions being achieved to a higher standard with a focus on school QES sustainability across all supported schools. The Lead Education Coordinator will also commit to the provision of quality education by both actively participating and leading a team of education coordinators in implementing the Quality Education Model in all COFU supported schools to create further opportunities in life for children.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / BACKGROUND
Bachelor of Education.

Qualifications in Primary Education or Teacher
Training background. From recognized Universities. • Proven experience of:

  •  Working experience with peer education institutions (at least 5 years).
  •  Preferably experience working in an NGO.
  •  Practical critical thinker to support schools and school management committees in Annual Action Planning (AAP) achievements and be a driver of school improvement plans across all supported schools.
  •  Lead Education Coordinator to be experienced in Secondary School operations in addition to Primary School operations.
  •  Leading a team in a remote location to deliver on set objectives. Has proven experiences in the following areas:
  •  Relationship building in rural communities and passionate about working in rural schools to drive changes.
  •  Detailed and accurate reporting of performance and achievement (Has interest and attention to details).
  •  Diverse knowledge in education programming (has a hands on experience on active/practical teaching and learning using local resources), and a personality who has resilience as well as a consensus builder.
  •  Managing and developing staff.

OTHER SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ATTRIBUTES AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

  •  Good interpersonal skills, high level of integrity and good moral conduct
  •  Excellent written English and computer skills
  •  Self-directed and capable of working with minimum supervision
  •  Ability to work within tight deadlines for proposal development / reporting
  •  Leadership traits to drive and recognize team development and achievements
  •  Strong commitment to Cotton On Foundation’s cause and values
  •  An open personality and acceptance of all races, creeds and cultures
  •  Licensed, and willing to travel by motor bike

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must be able to travel and live in the field locations in the rural areas of Southern Uganda
