Professional Responsibilities
General Duties
Curriculum and Instruction
• Support in identifying and assessing children with needs for more attention as per classroom learning and guidance from the classroom teacher
• Support the classroom teacher to implement the scope and sequence of curriculum for teaching and addressing the needs of each child in order to ensure effectiveness of the curriculum
• Liaise with the respective teacher to identify which instructional strategies to use within the small groups of students that fully support the curriculum and mission of the school
• Support the respective teacher(s) in monitoring the progress of each student
• Adhere to classroom curriculum guidelines by working with the respective teachers to plan, prepare and present lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within your class or small group(s)
• Support the classroom teacher (s) to develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students
• Consistently use strategies that empower and motivate the students at school
• Support the teacher(s) in the management of behavior with consistency and fairness in line with our school Behavior Policy, to ensure a safe, ordered atmosphere for all
• Liaise with the classroom teacher(s) to implement regular and efficient formative assessment to inform planning and learning; using data to identify gaps in learning, to inform teaching and, therefore, to maximize students’ progress
• Show a willingness to be involved in the extra-curricular life of the school
• Foster and maintain an efficient and productive relationship between home and school.
Teaching, Learning and Counselling
• Support the School Counselor with confidential counseling, advise and support to students as needed
• Liaise with the School Counselor to coordinate the objectives, strategies, and activities of a developmental school counseling program as per respective students
• Liaise with the SSS Director and Wellbeing Staff on a frequent basis as per needs of the students
• Be an active member of SSS meetings and take a role in developing and implementing policies, initiatives, discussing samples of work, assessment and record keeping, moderation, etc.
Communication
• Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with colleagues, parents,
• Attend and contribute to appropriate divisional meetings
Professional Development
• Annually submit in writing his/her professional goals to the Director of Student Support Services
• Participate with faculty and administration in all-staff meetings, Committee meetings, parent-teacher meetings, professional development and in-service activities
• Remain abreast of current developments in technology, learning and theory through active collaboration with other professionals, attending appropriate workshops and conferences, and through reading of professional journals, especially relating to your teaching grade level
Professional Qualifications

• Possess a minimum of a degree and relevant experience
• Exhibit a continuing sense of God’s calling to minister at Heritage International School
• Demonstrates a respect for diversity of culture, religion, and different Christian traditions
• Demonstrates an appreciation for the diversity of the body of Christ
• Show evidence of recent professional growth
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child development, program evaluation, and research related to AP learning
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
• Demonstrate the ability to use technology for word processing, data management and telecommunications
• Demonstrate a life congruent with our Statement of Faith of Heritage International School
• Previous travel and related experience preferred.
