JOB DETAILS:
Knowledge, Skills & Competences
• Excellent understanding of corporate, commercial, and financial law.
• Previous specialization in consumer finance services or other highly regulated business sector will be considered as a benefit.
• Strong business mind set and ability to proactively provide insightful and timely legal support to stakeholders across a functionally and geographically dispersed organization
• High level analytical skills, responsibility, and stress resistance.
• Excellent project management skills and ability to solve non-standard situations, set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Accuracy, self-dependency and conscientious regarding the fulfilment on work duties by keeping focus on details / Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities
• Manage a team of local lawyers located across Kenya and Uganda.
• Build and manage relationships with external law firms, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Work closely with local advisers, consultants, and regulators.
• Review, draft and negotiate documents and agreements relating to funding from global institutional investors / Oversee litigation and conflict resolution.
• Create and implement internal procedure (control mechanism) for compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting requirements to respective supervising authorities.
• Monitor draft laws and changes in legislation and coordinate actions required to keep group companies compliant.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and implement best corporate governance practices.

Qualifications
• Minimum Graduation in Law.
• Post Graduation Diploma in Legal practices desirable.

Details of experience
• At least five-years’ experience in a legal position in an international company or a law firm.
