JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary
• The Legal Manager is responsible for providing legal advice to support business stakeholders and ensuring legal compliance in respect of business decisions, processes and documentation. The person in this role is also responsible for providing legal support for training programs for employees and vendors. He/she is also responsible to manage any outsourced legal partners.

Responsibilities /Key Deliverables
• Provide day to day legal and regulatory support to the functional areas covering general advisory and legal opinions.
• Support on commercial engagements with customers and negotiating, reviewing, and drafting customer contracts.
• Participate in procurement processes to ensure compliance with Company policies and vendor compliance with service levels in contracts.
• Support as a key account manager for assigned telecom operators/customers and address and respond to customer complaints, customer demands and offer legal advisory as required in a timely manner.
• Support in landlord and vendor management through amicable resolution of disputes to ensure they do not result into litigation.
• Effective litigation management through managing external legal counsel, update, and maintenance of a litigation diary, engaging with relevant departments, and identifying witnesses, notifying, and organizing pre-trial briefing for the Company’s witnesses and their attendance for hearing of suits; administration of the litigation files, and containment of legal costs in line with budget.
• Participate in drawing and vetting of other contractual instruments such as ground leases, vendor contracts and any other legal instruments.
• Support the property team with respect to legal due diligence of property related documentation through review of proof of ownership documents as well as landlord negotiations, managing vendors, site access issues, responding to letters, landlord disputes.
• Support in carrying out legal audits for compliance, and monitoring compliance with legal and statutory requirements of the Company.
• Support in mentoring legal or graduate trainees assigned to the department and within the organization.
• Ensure compliance to the Company Policies, Regulations, Standards and Procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

Job Description
• Generate reports to Line Manager on litigation matters, contracts, commercial transactions, and any other relevant assignments.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
• LLB Degree or equivalent foreign qualification
• Admitted lawyer with 4 + years relevant experience in applying general commercial and corporate law.
• Helpful if the candidate also has 3+ years of property law and/or telecommunications law experience.

Environment
• Approximately 90% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Approximately 5-10% travel will be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,walk, use hands and finger to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk, and hear.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 12kgs.
