JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary:
The key purpose of the job is to promote and advocate climate-smart and environmentally friendly agricultural methods and practices among project beneficiaries. Main part of this is to develop and implement various agriculture related trainings and provide one-on-one technical support and advise.
In addition, the post holder is assisting in the training of Business Skill facilitators, who are supervised by Adult Education Officers, and acts as technical resource person to “Access to Adult Education” -project in relation to practical agriculture related activities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Capacity-building of agricultural groups
• Support agriculture groups to design and implement their own development plans.
• Develop and implement training sessions with special focus on introducing, advocating and training on climate-smart methodologies and practices in addition on agribusiness related topics.
• Keep up-to-date with development issues and trends with regard to climate-smart agriculture, income generation through agriculture and community development in Uganda and refugee context.
• Provide technical knowledge and skills on marketing, proper record keeping.
• Provide information on available inputs, networks, developmental and funding opportunities, and link groups to existing settlement and district level service providers and other useful networks.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Reporting
• Track progress and keep records, especially on adaptation of climate-smart and environmentally friendly practices, skills, and knowledge.
• Do data collection, manage information flow, contribute to monthly, quarter and annual reports.
Qualifications and competencies:
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or Agribusiness with strong experience on climate and environmental agriculture related matters.
• Experience in livelihoods, microfinance and IGA methodology.
• Experienced facilitator and trainer, with training material development skills.
• At least 3 years’ professional work experience in agriculture.
• Ability to use standard computing packages.
• Knowledge of languages spoken by major refugee groups; Kiswahili, Madi, Nuer, Dinka.
