JOB DETAILS:
Partners for Community Health and Development Organisation (PACHEDO) is a development organisation that is duly registered as a National Non-Governmental Organisation and has been working in Uganda since 2007. PACHEDO is currently operating in Acholi, Lango and Teso Sub Regions with the overall goal of responding to humanitarian emergencies and development needs. PACHEDO is operational in the communities of Amuru, Kole, Gulu, and Lamwo Districts implementing programs in five main sectors of Health/Nutrition, Water, Protection; Food Security and Livelihoods; with the Head office located in Gulu Town.
PACHEDO is seeking qualified, skilled, experienced and motivated persons committed to its philosophy and Corporate Strategy to fill the following career openings in the Amuru Nutrition Improvement project in Northern Uganda;
Job Title: MCHN Coordinator
Location: Gulu District (with frequent visits to the project locations)
Reports to: Programme Manager/Director
Contract Length: 9 months with possibility of renewal
Start Date: February 2020
Job Summary:
To manage and oversee the project activities in the target project district ensuring that all the project staff understand and work towards the attainment of organizational goals and project objectives.. .

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conceptualize and ensure that all field staff are fully knowledgeable with the project design, objectives and deliverables to effectively implement the set project activities and achieve the desired goal.
• Take a lead in program planning and provision of strategic direction in the Organization
• Ensure internal and external reporting and documentation requirements are on time and accurate by maintaining comprehensive project documentation, plans and activity reports.
• Assess project staff capacities and coordinate initial or ongoing trainings based on needs and project goals.
• Play a role in the recruitment, orientation and training of new technical project staff.
• Develop a detailed operation work plans which identifies and sequences activities and staffing for each phase of the project.
• Models leadership to all staff and intentionally develops the leadership potential of the MCHN Supervisors.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reports using the information provided by the MCHN Supervisors.
• Responsible to supervise each MCHN Supervisor who reports to him/her in the field at least once a month conducting QIVCs and completing all sections on the MCHN Supervisor’s checklist every quarter
• Coordinate project meetings and workshops
• Contribute to resource mobilization by identifying funding opportunities and actively participate in fund raising arrangements with the relevant stakeholders and proposals development.
• Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor

Job Requirements:
• Nutrition or Food Science Technology Degree Preferably a Master’s in Human Nutrition or Public Health
• Undisputable experience in Humanitarian context, Coordination with an NGO and Nutritional Assessment is desirable.
• Knowledge in Care Group Model and Positive Deviance/Hearth Approach is desirable.
• Experience in the IYCF practices, principles and operations associated with Nutrition and Nutrition sensitive agricultural production
• A minimum of three (3 ) years’ practical field experience is desired.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
• Excellent communications skills both oral and written are desired.

Competencies:
• Working knowledge of implementing multi-sectoral developmental projects
• Demonstrated interpersonal and mobilization skills and proactive problem solving skills.
• Ability to instruct and work with children, families, volunteers and community leaders
• Knowledge and sensitivity to gender equality, ethnic minority issues in confidential situations
• Good computer skills with MS office and proven documentation and report writing skills
• Ability to learn new concepts/ideas and willingness to work and live in a rural community environment
• A valid motorcycle riding permit, including the ability to ride to access target communities and care for a motorcycle assigned.
