Muteesa I Royal University (MRC) is a private University that was accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) in 2007. its Main Campus is situated in Kirumba Masaka, with other campuses in Mubende and Mengo Kakeeka. The mission of the MRU is to provide an effective and efficient setting for the development of intellectually dynamic individuals, principled and resource l professionals and practitioners. MRU is seeking to recruit highly motivated, innovative and committed candidates to fill the positions highlighted below:

Manager Estates and Physical Assets
Reports to: Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance and Administration Role definition: To develop strategies, policies and procedures for maintaining University property and structures such as land, vehicles, roads, buildings and storage facilities including provision of security to property and people in all the three University campuses in line with the assets management policies and legal rights.

Key Result Areas/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and develop complex briefs that provide guidelines, best practice and up to date legislative information to enable estates staff, contractors aid execute their duties in line with legal requirements and University
  • Develop and implement departments annual budget and to ensure that all are provided for and delivered at optimum cost efficiency.
  • Prepare an inventory of all University assets, attach with numbers for easy identification, label all university equipment and furniture and propose requests for insurance from the finance department in line with the security policy
  • Monitor and provide technical advice to all capital projects and other estates works (land purchase, surveying, construction, electricity, plumbing, carpentry, machine installation, vehicle testing/mechanics) going on at the university in line with the acceptable engineering standards
  • Manage KCCA and other local council requirements and statutory approval processes including planning applications, building regulation approvals, fire certificates and other relevant approvals relating to the University Campus.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master‘s Degree in Engineering or Estates Management
  • Honours Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 7 years working experience in a reputable Organization 3 of which should have been at Senior Managerial Level.
  • Registered member of the Uganda Professional Engineering Association(UPEA)
  • Experience in supporting tenders and developing business cases
  • Possess strong project management skills
