Reporting line(s) and networks: Reports to the company Country Director Works with the Direct Sales Team to align marketing and sales activities. Coordination with other departments for logistics and planning.
Special conditions: Some travel will be required between the company head office, the factory at Nakawuka and other parts of Uganda in response to the demands of the marketing program.
Position Summary: The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing a marketing strategy and annual plan to increase brand awareness, increase sales and establish the company brand as a household name. The Marketing Manager is responsible for ensuring that marketing activities support the achievement of the company’s sales targets.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy to increase brand awareness and increase sales of the company products
2. Market the products to gain new customers
3. Ensure retention of customers to sell replacement filter pots
4. Work with senior management to align country marketing plan to global marketing strategy
5. Create and manage the annual marketing budget, ensuring value for money
6. Conduct market research to identify opportunities to further grow sales of company products
7. Monitor ongoing marketing campaigns, ensuring deadlines and targets are met
8. Manage the company’s online presence, including on social media, website and e-commerce sites
9. Set up systems to measure KPIs for the marketing department, enabling strong data-driven decision-making and clear ROI analyses
10. Analyze data to evaluate the success of marketing initiatives and use this data to further improve brand marketing and exposure
11. Manage external relationships, including with media organizations, agencies, commercial partners, and other stakeholders
12. Oversee the company’s brand ambassador and influencer partnerships to ensure the value and potential is being maximized
13. Manage the Marketing Department to ensure strong performance
14. Determine the ideal structure of the Marketing Department and plan for timely recruitment of positions needed in the team.

Capabilities
1. Within the context of the main responsibilities and accountabilities of the role, the employee is expected to demonstrate the following capabilities:
2. Extensive experience of marketing in a relevant industry (i.e. FMCG, products with a social mission, water)
3. Excellent knowledge of traditional and emerging marketing channels
4. Demonstrated experience developing marketing strategies for a product/brand/company
5. Ability to develop and manage an annual budget
6. Strong understanding of data required to measure marketing performance; data-driven decision-making
7. Strong experience with digital marketing & marketing to reach non-digital audiences
8. Experience managing company social media and online presence
9. Experience managing a team
10. Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
11. Personal commitment to excellent customer service.
12. A successful track record in setting priorities, managing work demands and evaluating progress while remaining responsive to changing priorities.
13. Familiarity with Buffer, Google Analytics, Google Ads, social media platforms required
14. Experience working in East African markets, particularly Uganda is preferred
15. This position is open to East African nationals only, Ugandan citizens are preferred

Qualifications/Experience
1. Proven experience of 6+ years in Marketing, particularly in a relevant industry
2. A qualification relevant to the work of Marketing Manager will be highly regarded.

Language requirements

Fluency in spoken and written English language skills required. Other local language skills are a plus.

Compensation Package:
1. Gross salary of 7.5m UGX (some flexibility available)
2. Monthly facilitation for fuel, airtime and data of 600k UGX (net)

JOB DETAILS:

The Head of Internal Audit is responsible for the development and execution of the annual audit plan, which includes leading a team of auditors and FMPU Officer in the performance of financial, operational, and compliance audits. The role will report to the CEO with a dotted reporting line into the Board as well as future Audit Committee and will be responsible for communicating the results of audits to the Committee. The role will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with management and the Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing, with at least 2 of these in a leadership role. The candidate should also have a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

Day to Day Duties and responsibilities
1. Develop annually a risk-based internal audit plan for review and approval. Oversee the implementation of the approved plan, ensure proper resourcing for implementation of the plan, and adjust the plan as needed in response to changes in Umoja’s business risks, operations, systems and controls.
2. Support across countries as the organisation grows, providing advice and guidance to in country teams to ensure we have a consistent approach to internal audit across our organisation.
3. Keep senior management and the Board apprised of any changes needed to the internal audit plan.
4. Ensure methodical documentation of work plans and recommendations and all required follow up on findings and corrective actions.
5. Design and Implementation of an Audit System and Dashboard.
6. Provide technical assistance with investigations, special audits, and provide subject-matter expertise as needed.
7. Remain current on audit and regulatory trends and incorporate any required updates or activities into the annual audit plan.
8. Perform organization-wide risk assessments to identify significant risks or exposure related to internal controls or compliance, laws and regulations, providing feedback and recommendations on business risks and improving operational processes where appropriate.
9. Direct the work of external auditors on select audits, as directed by the Board and senior management, to ensure the audit work remains effective and within timelines.
10. Recommend organization-wide training based on gaps identified
11. Establish and assign departmental goals to team members and evaluate their performance.
12. Responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing career paths for direct reports and creating innovative solutions to challenges in the field.
13. This role will need to create a motivational working environment for a team that spends the majority of time in the field and different locations.

Skills/Qualifications
1. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
2. 5 years of related work experience with at least 2 years in a leadership level role.
3. CPA, CIA, CISA or equivalent required.
4. Comprehensive understanding of the finance, banking or microfinance industry is desirable
5. Ability to effectively communicate with Board level stakeholders and Senior Management.
6. A great team players with a hands on management style
