Key Result Areas 1. Assessing patients prior to their procedures by studying patient medical histories and speaking with both patients and their physicians
2. Helping patients better understand the procedures they need and serving as a liaison between the patient, nursing staff, and physician
3. Explaining the procedures needed by answering any questions/concerns patients and family may have
4. Instructing patients on what to do before a particular procedure
5. Preparing the patient for the imaging procedure
6. Injecting special dyes/contrast mediums into patients
7. Administering barium enemas/solutions prior to procedures
8. Operating radiology machines and at times reading diagnostic images
9. Reassessing patients after their procedure and providing care until they are ready to be discharged
10. Respect and protect patients’ right and confidentiality
Competencies/Abilities: 1. Use professional judgment to ascertain and to apply appropriate intervention techniques with patients in crisis.
2. Communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and function calmly in situations, which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy.

Knowledge/Qualifications and Experience 1. Certificate from an accredited school of nursing
2. Certificate of Registration with the Nursing Council.
3. Valid practicing license.
4. Two (2) years Radiology experience preferred
5. Computer literacy is a must
JOB DETAILS: Interested candidates should be able to To provide professional nursing care to emotionally disturbed and/or mentally ill patients
Key Result Areas 1. Conducts intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
2. Makes nursing diagnosis of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options.
3. Consults with psychiatrists and other behavioural health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients.
4. Administers and notes reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications. Arranges further medical attention when necessary.
5. Assists the client in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and accepting the need for treatment.
6. Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Test for vital signs of pain and ensures treatments of pain.
7. Documents all patient information on medical charts and follows doctor’s written orders.
8. Maintains patient confidentiality.
9. Maintains accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, and laboratory results according to standard operating procedures.
10. Performs administrative assignments such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system
Competencies/Abilities: 1. Apply professional nursing care principles and procedures in the evaluation and treatment of psychiatric patients.
2. Develop interpersonal therapeutic relationships with psychiatric patients. Keep accurate written charts and records of patient activities and progress.
3. Comply with laws, rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures.
4. Use professional judgment to ascertain and to apply appropriate intervention techniques with patients in crisis.
