JOB DETAILS: It's hard to believe that today 844 million people do not have clean water and 2.3 billion do not have a decent toilet - around one in three of the world's population. Every two minutes, a child under five dies from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation.
WaterAid is looking for a Project Coordinator to play a vital role in our vision to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere by 2030. We're looking for people who share a commitment to our vision.
Key Responsibilities Include: • The Project Coordinator shall be responsible for efficiently and effectively manage and oversee the phases of the hand pump improvement project, working and engaging with different stakeholders, partners, consultants and the global support teams.
• The position holder will be responsible for delivering advocacy results through collaboration with the Agenda for Change members.
• He/she will lead planning, implementation of interventions aimed at improving WASH coordination, monitoring, governance and accountability systems as well as demonstrating sustainable WASH service delivery models in the selected districts and communities.
• He/She will support the Project Officer in coordinating operational project activities with district partners including sites selection, stakeholder identification at community level, technical assessments, installations documentation of lessons, progress monitoring and reporting.
To be Successful, you will need the following: • Master's Degree in Civil and/ or Water resources Engineering, or any other relevant or applicable studies
• Experience and knowledge on WASH sector/ issues is desirable with proven ability in effective grant management Experience working in rural water supply especially borehole technologies
• Advanced Research Skills At least 5-8 years of demonstrated work experience in project planning and management with an NGO or government
• Use a high level of communication skills to communicate project implementation issues effectively with the ability to adapt styles to the needs of different audiences both tactfully and diplomatically
• Produce clear and concise reports, drawing out and communicating key findings from complex data Work accurately and efficiently to deadlines and targets managing a wide and varied workload
• Experience in conducting applied research is an added advantage Good public relation especially when dealing with external partners
• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, influencing and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with WaterAid partners, government, donors, CSOs and with a wide range of other stakeholders
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities Include: • The Project Officer shall be responsible for the facilitation of project planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation in collaboration with local communities and government authorities at national and sub-national levels.
• The position holder shall ensure efficient and cost-effective operations of all the project deliverables (sector support-influencing, service delivery, capacity building, research, learning and documentation) and operations towards the fulfilment of strategic objectives of the organization and the local governments.
• He/she shall provide technical support during the implementation of the project.
To be Successful, you will need the following: • B.Sc. degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related fields
• Minimum of 4 years of proven and progressive work experience, preferably with NGOs implementing similar initiatives.
• Track record of successful work experience and results in the area of program or project study and design, study and implementation of WASH projects, preferably in NGOs
• Demonstrated technical ability, sound judgment, and ability to work effectively with others at all levels
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, e.g. government officials at different levels, partners, other NGOs and networks
• Firm belief in teamwork, equity and inclusion, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, application of participatory approaches and sustainable development
• Commitment to values and working styles of Water Aid Uganda.
• Proficient in computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Good written and spoken English language
• Ability to communicate information accurately
