Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Materials/Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Materials/Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of materials used in water irrigation projects. Your expertise in civil engineering and laboratory testing will be crucial in conducting various tests and analyses to assess the suitability and performance of materials used in construction. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct laboratory tests on various construction materials used in water irrigation projects, including soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and other related materials.
• Perform physical and chemical tests on materials to assess their quality, strength, durability, and compliance with project specifications and relevant standards.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning correctly.
• Prepare samples and specimens for testing, following proper procedures and documentation.
• Analyze test results, interpret data, and prepare accurate reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure materials used meet project requirements and adhere to quality standards.
• Conduct field inspections to collect samples and conduct on-site tests as required.
• Assist in the development and implementation of quality control processes and procedures for materials used in water irrigation projects.
• Maintain accurate records of test results, laboratory activities, and equipment calibration.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations in the laboratory.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Materials/Laboratory Technician or a similar role.
• Must have completed at least one similar water irrigation project (500-2000 hectares).

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and their properties, as well as laboratory testing methods and procedures.
• Proficiency in conducting various laboratory tests, including soil classification, compaction, concrete strength, aggregate grading, and asphalt properties.
• Familiarity with relevant standards and specifications for materials used in construction projects.
• Experience in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Ability to interpret test results, analyze data, and prepare accurate reports.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in laboratory testing and analysis.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and practices in laboratory settings.
• Proficient in using computer software and applications for data analysis and report preparation.
