Established as a general hospital in 1969, the hospital strives to provide integrated and sustainable quality health services to the population of Oyam District and beyond. These services include curative, preventive, and promotive healthcare, based on the imitation of Christ and His deeds, and in the spirit of total dedication and transparency, in accordance with the Catholic Ethical Code.

Job Description
St. John XXIII Hospital Aber is seeking a Medical Officer Special Grade – Internal Medicine to join our dedicated healthcare team. As a leading healthcare provider in rural Uganda, we are committed to delivering high-quality, specialized services to our community. The successful candidate will oversee the management of internal medicine services, mentor junior staff, and coordinate professional training while advancing internal medicine practices through research and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage services in his/her specialization at the General Hospital and the catchment area covered by the Hospital.
• Supervise and mentor Medical Officers Interns and other health professionals under him or her.
• Plan and coordinate training programmes for Health Professionals under him/ her.
• Plan and coordinate Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in his/her specialty, for Health professionals at the General Hospital and catchment area of the Hospital.
• Plan, co-ordinate and conduct research in his/her specialty.
• Provide technical and professional advice in his/her area of specialization to and the Hospital and the entire Diocese depending on the need.
• Participate in the management of referred patients.
• Ensure that discipline and Ethical Code of Conduct are observed by the staff under him or her.
• Advise on the procurement of equipment, drugs and other logistics required for his or her specialty.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualification:
• Must be a registered and licensed Medical Officer Special Grade with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners' Council.
• Must have at least 2 years of working experience.
