AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is an international not for profit NGO, with its Headquarters based in Los Angeles, Calfornia. AIDS Foundation is registered in Uganda as AIDS Healthcare Foundation Uganda Cares (AHF-UC) which is collaboration between the Uganda Ministry of Health and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (U.StA) to provide free HIV/AIDS services; including antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained settings.
AHF Uganda Cares to date operates in 17 districts including; Masaka, Kampala, Rakai, Lyantonde, Soroti, Lwengo, Bukomansimbi, Katungu, Kalangala, Masindi, Amuria, Butambala, Gomba, Serere, Hoima, Ntungamo, Tororo and supports 44 clinic sites country wide.
Medical Officer in Charge - Soroti Healthcare Centre
Reports to the Regional Medical Director

This is largely a clinical practice job with leadership roles entailing providing outpatient review, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of diseases and injuries in general practice related to HlV by performing the following duties. S/he shall perform the following duties;

• Sees .patients both outpatients and in-patients setting (both new and follow-up) as required '
• Reviews history and examines patient to determine general physical condition
• Requests or performs various tests, analyses, and interprets images to provide information on patient’s condition.
• Performs medical procedures and minor surgeries including lumbar punctures, 1 8. D of abscess, skin biopsies, bone marrow biopsies, treatment of condyloma via cryotherapy podophyllon application or tropical acid therapy
• Supervises Medical Officer(s), Clinical Officers), Nurse in Charge, Pharmacy Technician(s), Laboratory Technician(s) among others; in the treatment, care and management of patients, consigning and reviewing patient charts, supervising medical meetings between site providers including Interpretation of chest x-rays and laboratory investigations,
• Ensuring availability of stocks, laboratory consumables and supplies including accounting for the utilization.

Academic Qualifications

• The minimum requirement is a Medical Degree (MB.Ch.B) or its equivalent from a recognized university institution.
• Must be registered with the Medical and Dental practitioners council or its equivalent; trained and practicing outside the country.

Experience

• Minimum of five years working experience of which two must be in HIV/AIDS related field.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

• Ability to worn as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
  Specific Skills
• Knowledge of HlV/AIDS and related issues and concerns as they relate to the diverse populations
• Proficient in at least two spoken local languages in project sites.
