JOB DETAILS:
Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology; or Atmospheric Science from a recognised University/Institution. OR An Honours Bachelor’s Degree with a bias in Physics; or Mathematics; or Statistic; or Hydrology; or Computer Science; or Agriculture plus a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Meteorology from a recognized University/Institution.

Working Experience

Duties
The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Meteorologist for performing the following duties:-

- Observing and producing weather and climate products;
- Studying and assimilating all weather information including surface data and preparation of the required for forecast formulation;
- Analyzing meteorological data and preparing statistical summaries of forecasts and advisories for stakeholders in areas of agrometeorology, climatology and hydrometeorology;
- Providing weather briefs and flight documentation to flight crew members and/or other flight operations personnel;
- Conducting publication of bulletins for agrometeorology, climatology and Hydrometeorology;
- Analyzing all surface and upper air charts, tephigrams, satellite and radar products;
- Supervising data entry, data rescue, digitization and archiving;
- Carrying out weather research programs;
- Compiling inventories of all instruments in liaison with Stores Assistant for the section;
- Compiling daily forecasts for one or more forecast location(s) within the country and act as a standby forecaster or observer for significant weather events and provide support for other stakeholders and
- Developing computer programs for data management and forecasting;

- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
