JOB DETAILS:

Our client in the Energy Sector seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and results-oriented individual for the vacancy above.
As an electricity distributor, UMEME is licensed to distribute and supply electricity to customers. This mandate involves; operation, maintenance and upgrade of electricity distribution infrastructure, electricity retail and provision of related services. The sector is regulated by the Electricity Regulatory Authority, whose mandate includes setting operating standards and appropriate end-user tariffs.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Read electric consumption meters and enter data in route books or hand-held computers.
2. Walk or drive vehicles along established routes to take readings of meter dials.
3. Upload into office computers all information collected on hand-held computers during meter rounds, or return route books or hand-hand computers to business offices so that data can be compiled.
4. Verify readings in cases where consumption appears to be abnormal, and record possible reasons for fluctuations.
5. Inspect meters for unauthorized connections, defects, and damage such as broken seals.
6. Report to service departments any problems such as meter irregularities, damaged equipment, or impediments to meter access, including dogs.
7. Answer customers' questions about services and charges, or direct them to customer service centres.
8. Update client address and meter location information.
9. Leave messages to arrange different times to read meters in cases in which meters are not accessible.

Qualifications and Skills Reqiured:
1. Degree/diploma in related field.
2. A minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in the above role
