Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Associate
Reports to: Director

Summary
Reporting to the Director, the MEL Associate will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring that the project maintains its strategic vision and achieve intended outputs in a cost effective and timely manner. The MEL Associate will work with Technical Projects Lead and other business unit teams in designing and implementing the systems and project tools as well as collection & analysis of different data in relation to the project activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for performing the following duties:
• Develop and implement a monitoring, evaluation and learning system that will ensure tracking of results at different project levels.
• Work with the technical lead and business development team to ensure collection of relevant data needed to achieve the project goals
• Generate work plans, budgets, logo frames and relevant documents for mid-term review, impact assessments, baseline surveys and related project evaluations.
• Develop, maintain and administer MEL database to ensure effective monitoring and follow up of project assignments.
• Make collaborations with key stakeholders for future projects and ensure partnerships are maintained and optimized.
• Work with other associates to generate competitive technical proposals and other technical documents in line with project terms of reference.
• Ensure that key project demographics such as age, gender, disability etc. are effectively addressed in relevant data collection tools.
• Build Capacity of internal staff by training the team on monitoring, evaluation and learning systems and build a pipeline of trainers for future project executions.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, skills and experience:
• A Bachelors’ degree in Statistics, Economics, Demography, Project Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences.
• Experience in statistical packages including SPSS, STATA, Epi Info, excel is essential
• Experience in developing and implementing M&E tools is required
• Good training, facilitation and presentation skills
• Experience in developing partnerships/collaborations is desirable
• Knowledge of technical proposals for grants and project related assignments is a plus.
