JOB DETAILS:
Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Duty station: Bududa, supporting project activities in the Entire Manafwa River watershed
Duration: 4 Years, subject to successfully meeting 6 months, probation period
POSITION PURPOSE
Design, review and implement comprehensive M&E management system and guidelines for measuring and tracking project performance, as well as managing the project database..
Tasks and responsibilities
The M&E officer shall:
• Make a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning plan (MEL plan), and coordinate its implementation
• Develop M&E tools, both qualitative and quantitative to create project feedback and output
• Coordinate and supervise impact assessment studies by the project, based on sound survey methods
• Manage the project's database where data from all researchers is stored
• Produce reporting / M&E schedules for project staff and participating farmers /groups
• Prepare reports and documentation of outcomes, outputs, experiences, and key lessons learned
• Provide input (highlights, lessons learned, etc.) for policy briefs
Qualifications and experience
• A Master's degree related to Rural Development / Agronomy with focus on M&E or impact Assessment
• At least 2 years’ experience in outcome mapping or similar kind of M&E approaches
• Excellent communication and report writing skills in English
• Knowledge in the application of qualitative and quantitative M&E methods in similar settings
• Practical knowledge of common statistical analysis and database management packages
• Demonstrable skills and competences of working with diverse multidisciplinary teams
Other desirable skills & qualities
• High integrity, honesty and intrinsic motivation for sustainable rural development in Uganda
• Ability to provide capacity building training to project staff, partners, and farmers in M&E
• Aerial data collection experience, as well as management and utilization
• Experience in evaluating sustainable development impact
• Video and photography skills and competences
• Experience in interdisciplinary development projects, preferably also with international staff
• Able to speak Lugisu
