FUNCTION
BTC , the Belgian Development Agency, together with difference Govemment Ministries, are implementing the bilateral co-operation between Uganda & Belgium.
In the framework of the MoES/BTC Teacher Training Program implemented by the Ministry of Education & Sports and the Belgian Development Agency (BTC Uganda), one (1) National Pedagogic Expert will be recruited to assist the International Expert Pedagogy in delivering the specialist knowledge, expertise and experience of modern, active teaching & learning and other learner-centered approaches to bring about a paradigm shift in the way teaching and learning is organized in 5 National Teachers‘ Colleges.

Major Roles and Responsibilities

  • Organization, participation and contribution to the coordination/ planning/monitoring activities as per approved work plans
  • Coordinate with the PCT, and with the national/regional authorities, organizations and other project stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and implementation the Active Teaching 8r Learning program in the colleges and in Kampala
  • Preparation of the administrative documents (justifications) needed for the approval of trainings, workshops and other activities
  • Organize, invite and participate to the TTQTL meetings, and prepare/archive their minutes
  •  Assist in the design, preparation, adaptation and refinement of teaching materials
  •  When applicable, ensure direct delivery of trainings, in the Colleges and in Kampala
  • ln collaboration with the Field Coordinators, follow-up, facilitate and provide guidance to activities implemented by the colleges’ Mentorship and School Practice Committees
  • Preparation and delivery of quality documents such as reports, presentations, minutes, etc.
  • in collaboration with the administrative and financial team, management of financial and logistic aspects for the organization of field trips, accommodation, workshop venues, etc. as well as timely purchase and distribution of materials, equipment, stationary, photocopies and supplies to be provided for trainings and workshops.
  •  In collaboration with the relevant authorities, ensure that relevant communication materials are uploaded in the MoES and BTC websites, and in the ATL Facebook page
  • Ensure the proper physical and electronic archiving of correspondence, reports, pictures and other documents
  • Any other tasks that may be prescribed to achieve improvement in teaching and learning in the colleges
  •  As a team member, coordination with, and participation to, other project activities (i.e. coordination meetings, preparation of Steering Committees reriorts, etc.)

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Education, in areas of pedagogy and teacher training
  •  At least 4 years’ proven experience in teacher education and teacher training
  • Proven expertise in student centered Active Teaching & Learning approaches and li4 Education
  • Knowledge of the current secondary education reform in Uganda is an asset
  • Excellent English writing skills, and proficient use of Windows Office software
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Good communication and facilitation skills (interest in participatory approaches and team work)
  • Willingness to work overtime and ability to bear stress
