JOB DETAILS:
KKiwoko Hospital (KH) seeks to recruit an excellent Neonatal Physiotherapist for their Hospital to Home (HZH) study with Adara Development. The aim of the HZH study is to develop and pilot a discharge and follow-up programme for high-risk newborns from the KH neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and to examine its feasibility, acceptability and potential for impact on the health and wellbeing of the newborn and their caregivers. The NICU is a well-established unit and recognized within Uganda as a Centre of excellence in newborn care. Applications are invited from competent and qualified Ugandans as indicated below:

Employment status: Full time contract starting March 2019 to 30 September 2020 with an opportunity to extend dependent upon study results and funding
Reports to: Kiwoko Hospital NICU In-charge and Clinical Programmes Manager
ABOUTTHE ROLE:
Funded by a Saving Brains grant, this role will see you provide neonatal therapy and direct patient care in this busy, acute setting. You will facilitate the prevention of developmental problems and create an environment that promotes healthy development and growth. You will do this by performing examinations of NICU patients to evaluate their needs, while also developing and implementing individualized patient care plans. You will directly care for the NICU patient, provide education and support, and assist in the preparation of discharge plans.

ABOUTYOU:
• A diploma in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech and Language Therapy and relevant professional experience
• Experience with newborn or paediatric patients or a passion and desire to learn
• Preferably has knowledge of infant/child development
• Fluency in Luganda and in spoken and written English to the tertiary level
• Clear, friendly and open communication skills, including listening to the needs of families
• Excellent teaching skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Accountable, trustworthy and empathetic
